The Engineering Project Manager, Construction & Real Estate is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and successful delivery of various construction projects, facility upgrades, and real estate initiatives across our global footprint.

This position reports to the Director of Project Engineering and is part of the Global Operations Engineering team.  This will be a remote position, preferably near Chaska, Minnesota or in close proximity to an airport for travel. 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead and manage all phases of complex engineering projects—including new construction, renovations, expansions, and facility infrastructure improvements—from conception through completion.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, defining scope, objectives, budgets, schedules, resource allocation, and risk management strategies for construction and real estate initiatives.
  • Coordinate real estate activities for Beckman Coulter, maintain an active inventory of sites and ownership/lease terms, and partner with Danaher corporate real estate/legal teams on site selection, property transactions, and lease negotiations.
  • Oversee design and engineering compliance, ensuring adherence to building codes, environmental regulations, safety standards, and internal specifications.
  • Select, negotiate, and manage external partners (vendors, contractors, architects, engineering consultants) to meet project specifications, timelines, and budgets; additionally, drive major global capital projects when other project types are inactive.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Prefer minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in project management, with a significant focus on construction management and/or corporate real estate, preferably within a regulated industry such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or biotechnology.
  • Proven track record of managing multi-million-dollar construction projects from concept to completion, including vendor selection and contract negotiations.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, environmental regulations, and EHS requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • An FDA regulated environment

The annual salary range for this role is $120,000 - $135,000.This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
