The Tech I builds upon the foundation established as an Installer, demonstrating a growing understanding of audio-video, security, surveillance, and networking systems. This role involves performing more complex installations, troubleshooting basic technical issues, and providing on-site support. Tech I technicians contribute to project success while continuing to develop their technical expertise. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Install and configure AV equipment (TVs, speakers, receivers, etc.) with increasing independence.
- Run and terminate various types of cabling (HDMI, Cat5e/6, speaker wire, etc.).
- Troubleshoot basic to intermediate technical issues related to AV, security, and networking systems.
- Provide on-site technical support to clients, explaining system operation and addressing concerns.
- Collaborate with Tech 2 technicians on more complex installations and projects.
- Assist with programming and configuration of AV and control systems.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including time logs and project documentation.
- Adhere to safety regulations and best practices.
- Continue to develop technical skills and knowledge through training and on-the-job experience.
- Maintain company tools and equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications a plus.
- 1-2 years of experience in AV installation or a related field preferred.
- Basic understanding of AV, security, and networking systems.
- Familiarity with various types of AV equipment and cabling.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic technical problems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check.
