Position Summary

The Control Panel Technician is responsible for the assembly, wiring, fabrication, and testing of UL508A industrial control panels. This role builds panels to engineering specifications, ensuring quality, safety, and functionality. The ideal candidate has strong electrical knowledge, attention to detail, and experience working with industrial control systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Layout, dimension, and fabricate back panels and enclosures according to prints and specifications

  • Mount electrical components to panels and enclosures

  • Route, bundle, and secure wiring to meet internal quality and UL508A standards

  • Perform point-to-point wiring of relays, PLCs, I/O modules, VFDs, controls, and instrumentation

  • Install control panels onto equipment as required

  • Conduct energized testing to verify proper operation and functionality

  • Troubleshoot wiring and component issues to identify and resolve errors

  • Maintain accurate redline markups for any engineering-approved changes

  • Follow all safety protocols and ISO procedures

  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors and leadership

  • Support team operations and assist in other areas as needed

  • Train and mentor junior technicians when applicable

  • Meet production deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience building industrial control panels

  • Prior experience with UL508A control panels strongly preferred

  • Solid understanding of electrical theory, terminology, and industrial controls

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings

  • Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Willingness to work overtime as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to use hands for tools, wiring, and assembly work
