Job Summary
The Lounge Agent will take care of the operations related to the reception of passengers, the arrivals of flights, and the check-in process at the lounge.
Job Responsibilities
- Checks documents for shipments to be cleared for completeness.
- Takes care of the customs clearance and preparation in the automated system of the applicable customs documents, whereby goods are guaranteed against any import duties and various other taxes can be carried under customs supervision.
- If requested, explain the declaration and defend the position taken to customs.
- Resolves customs technical problems or matters.
- Keep in touch with the importer/customer regarding the progress of customs clearance and any content and value of shipments.
- Advises on the proper application of customs legislation and the tariff system of importers feed duties and excise duties on fellow colleagues and on customers. Signals possible tax risks and tries to prevent this.
- Checks the progress of documents at the customs invoice control and keeps close contact with customs officials about any delays.
- Maintains regular contact with consolidators and other customers regarding incoming freight.
- Keeps abreast of developments and regulations in the field of (international) customs.
- Monitors and controls in consultation, the incoming freight process with regard to Routing, Delivery service, Administration and Customer Service and provides a streamlined service to the customer.
- Independently writes refund letters and submits them to the Head of Logistics and for approval Doc. services.
- Enter the import duties and O.B. to be paid in the computer system after receipt of the document from customs.
- Splits the incoming documents for the administration department and the sea freight department. Ensures that all documents are entered into the computer system.
- Ensures that the lighter manifest is drawn up and that it is submitted to the shipping company cancellation.
- Coordinates transport with the transport company for containers to the warehouse or directly to the customer.
- Enters the correct information into the computer system after checking in the containers.
- Coordinates the delivery of the local transport.
- Prepare the documents for transit shipments and coordinate with the shipping company or Airfreight export department.
- Receives and handles complaints regarding pending shipments.
- Is able to perform all activities of a (Senior) Customer Service Agent.
- Carry out all activities related to the position.
- Comply with the responsibilities detailed in the station's QHSE Management System Manual and the manuals under your responsibility and management, ensuring compliance with the requirements in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISAGO standards.
Qualifications and Competencies
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Passionate about customer service and must have relevant work experience
- Experience as a passenger agent or equivalent experience in aviation field is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in country specific language
- Additional languages desirable (French language is required for the locations in the province of Quebec).
- Commitment to continuous improvement

- Attentive to detail and numerate
- Ability to follow processes and procedures and apply flexible approach when required
- Willingness to work in inclement weather
- Flexible to work on various shifts (days, evening, nights, weekends, and holidays)
