About This Opportunity:

To address the increasing demand for effective water filtration and stormwater pollutant removal, our dedicated Komline-AquaShield engineering team designs and delivers integrated product solutions that exceed today's evolving water quality standards. Leveraging proprietary technologies and both custom and retrofit applications, we provide LEED-accredited, lightweight, and durable modular units. Our systems support green infrastructure initiatives and represent best-in-class stormwater treatment solutions.

The Research & Development Engineer plays a key role in advancing stormwater management technologies and developing innovative treatment solutions. Working closely with engineers, environmental scientists, and research professionals, this position supports the design, testing, evaluation, and continuous improvement of stormwater treatment systems while contributing to product innovation, technical validation, and regulatory acceptance efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of laboratory and field performance testing programs and the evaluation of systems through third-party organizations and internal testing teams
  • Support the development of long-term testing programs designed to generate defensible, industry-supported performance data for filtration media and other treatment technologies
  • Participate in research and product development initiatives to support future stormwater treatment systems and enhancements to existing products
  • Prepare technical documentation and support regulatory agency submissions for local, state, and reciprocal stormwater treatment approvals
  • Identify opportunities for technical publications, case studies, and industry articles that showcase technology applications and performance results
  • Support technical presentations, trade show participation, and industry engagement activities that strengthen Komline's market presence and reputation
  • Develop knowledge of competitive technologies to support product improvements and assist sales teams in addressing technical objections
  • Provide backup support for quality control reviews and CAD drawing evaluations as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related scientific discipline
  • 0-3 years of professional engineering experience
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar 3D design software
  • Ability to design, build, test, and modify equipment through an iterative development process
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple functions
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with stormwater treatment technologies, including filtration systems, biofiltration, green infrastructure, and other innovative treatment approaches
  • Understanding of fluid mechanics and hydraulics, including CFD modeling and validation through physical testing
  • Experience conducting technical research, publishing findings, or evaluating emerging trends in sustainable stormwater treatment technologies
