What You’ll Do

In this role, you will direct the daily activities of adolescent males in programming utilizing acceptable behavioral management principles. Must have the ability to exercise independent judgment in crisis situations.

Your responsibilities may includes:

  • 1. Performs the required initial nursing assessments utilizing the Nursing process.

    2. Ability to evaluate medical needs of the patient and work with a multi-disciplinary team to assist in facets of the Recovery Program relating to physical health.

    3. Assesses changes in patient’s status and reports appropriate physical/mental status information to the physician, mid-level practitioner, or other pertinent personnel.

    4. Develops the healthcare portion of the treatment plan within.

    5. Provides nursing reassessments on the treatment plan based on patient’s progress and as goals are achieved.

    6. Accepts and transcribes verbal and written physician orders and incorporates them into the treatment plan as indicated.

    7. Ensures patient safety including the reporting of incidents and medication errors.

    8. Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work as a member of an addiction/behavioral health treatment team.

    9. Monitors the self-administration program.

    10. Updates physician and interdisciplinary team on patient’s current and potential medical problems with proper documentation.

    11. Protects patient’s privacy and patient’s rights.

    12. Communicates/endorses accurate information regarding patient’s status and care during shift reports.

    13. Evaluates patient response and reaction (if any) to medications and/or medical treatments administered. Documents patient response.

    14. Recommends/revises nursing interventions in collaboration with other staff according to evaluation of progress or significant changes in the patient’s condition.

    15. Provides patient care as a member of the interdisciplinary team.

    16. Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-services. Attends professional seminars. Is responsible for providing evidence of continuing education.

    17. Participates in orientation of new employees, program interns, and volunteers.

    18. Attends mandatory in-services.

    19. Provides for the patient’s health education needs.

    20. Responsible for the use and allocation of various resources, i.e., time, personnel, and supplies.

    21. Participates as directed in the Quality Improvement Process

    22. Follows up on medical/psychiatric referrals

    23. Participates in the infection control program.

    24. Adheres to confidentiality requirements.

    25. Attends mandatory in-services.

    26. Knowledge of the procedures to follow in the event of an incident.

    27. Knowledge of job responsibility in emergency.

    28. Knowledge of responsibility regarding actions to minimize, eliminate, and report risks.

    29. Support and promotes the Sanctuary Model and its Commitments.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in TN.
  • Minimum three years experience as an LPN or RN and previous experience in the mental health field, or chemical dependency field or equivalent education/academic preparation required.
  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Criminal clearances (specific State & child clearances and, if necessary, FBI).
  • Non-communicable diseases physical exam.
  • Valid driver's license from employee’s state of residence.
  • Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks; including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.
  • Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
