What You’ll Do

As an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher in our School Age Program, you will:

  • Provide adaptive physical education experiences, including swimming sessions, where applicable, to students within the program in conjunction with specific Individualized Education Plan (IEP) objectives
  • Prepare detailed lesson plans one week in advance of implementation, outlining specific activities, goals and objectives as they relate to each student
  • Communicate with parents, as appropriate, regarding the adaptive physical education program and progress of respective children
  • Select and utilize or, when needed, recommends through outlined ordering procedures, appropriate materials and equipment to fulfill specific goals and objectives

 

Qualifications

We’re seeking educators who are compassionate, adaptable and committed to student success.

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree and Permanent or Initial New York State Certification in Physical Education/Adaptive Physical Education

OR

  • Master’s Degree and Permanent or Professional/Initial New York State Certification in Physical Education/Adaptive Physical Education

PLUS

  • Current certification in Multimedia First Aid, or comparable, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation; Advanced Life Saving
  • Participation in an Adaptive Aquatics Program preferred
  • Demonstrated skill in formulating and documenting appropriate behavioral objectives for students with developmental disabilities
