JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Cook
Status: Full-time/Hourly
Position Reports to: Food Services Supervisor
Date Assuming Responsibilities:
Job Summary:
To provide food preparation service and assistance as needed by the Food Services Department.
Qualifications:
At least one year experience in institutional cooking. Preferred knowledge in an institutional setting.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to sit, stand, lift, and walk. Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, and
walk. Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to use hands to fingers.
Work Environment:
Moderate noise (inpatient residential treatment facility, light to moderate traffic).
ESENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Must have a current Food Handlers card and a copy must be in the employee file.
2. Prepare well balanced meals.
3. Cook and prepare food as needed. Willingness to work along side other kitchen staff.
4. Consult with other treatment service staff, as necessary, concerning client services.
5. Maintain a high degree of cleanliness and order in the kitchen, dining and storage areas.
6. Maintain a high degree of self-cleanliness.
7. Understand need for personal hygiene and the wearing of clean uniforms.
8. Be able to understand portion control.
9. Keep a running inventory of food and other kitchen supplies with an order for replacement ready once a week on the scheduled day.
10. Follow special diet needs of clients as documented by care team and nurse.
11. Must be able to take written and/or verbal orders and perform other duties assigned.
12. Other duties as assigned.
13. Responds to the directives of the supervisor and management staff in a professional and cooperative manner.
14. Assures that all ABHS’ clients’ needs are met with dignity and respect and in a timely manner.
15. Makes decisions based on the welfare of the client, the success of the team, and the quality and integrity of the program.
16. Understands and facilitates federal confidentiality laws, 42 CFR, and protects client confidentiality/anonymity, and assures no information is shared without proper authorization.
17. Ensures compliance to contractual obligations, ABHS policies, and State statues (WACs).
18. Cooks will be required to obtain an Agency Affiliated Credential through the Department of Health.
