Performs those duties that assist the dentists, and hygienists in the care of and treatment of patients. Performs duties in the chair-side assisting, inventory, and records. This position is 30/hrs a week currently.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School graduate
  • On-the-job training, previous experience preferred
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff.
  • Personal maturity, cooperation, ability to communicate clearly


SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists the dentist and hygienist in chair side procedures.
  • Responsible for the preparation and setting up of instruments.
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance and monitoring of equipment.
  • Assist dentist in operating room.
  • Follows all OSHA standards and institutional policies as stated in Regulatory Compliance Manual and Health Center Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Assists in obtaining prior approval for selective Medicaid Procedures.
  • Completes and maintains dental laboratory forms.
  • Maintains all dent lab slips for a minimum of two (2) years.
  • Sends all dental cases to the lab and notifies patients when appliances are ready.
  • Responsible for pouring and disinfecting of all dental impressions.
  • Orders and maintains dental supplies.
  • Assists front desk with clerical duties as needed.
  • Performs radiology services, as allowed by dental assistant license.
  • Maintains and updates Radiation Safety Program annually.
  • Maintains and monitors all dosimeter badges.
  • Performs topical fluoride and topical anesthetic applications
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein, or as assigned by the Dentist and the Dental Hygienist.
