About Your Role:
As the Director Sales Promotions at Dollar Tree’s Store Support Center (SSC) in Chesapeake, VA, you’ll lead enterprise-wide strategies that drive sales productivity and in-store execution. This role is responsible for developing and optimizing promotional planning, implementation of merchandise driven initiatives, and ensuring seamless communication across merchandising and store operations. You will play a critical role in aligning merchandising strategy with store execution to deliver a consistent and compelling customer experience across our 9,000+ stores.

Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Lead strategic initiatives that drive sales growth through promotional planning, merchandising execution, and project management.
  • Partner closely with Merchandising, Store Operations, Marketing, Space Planning and other departments to align enterprise priorities and execution strategies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on sales-driving initiatives, store productivity, and the customer experience.
  • Collaborate with Space Planning to establish clear merchandising guidance that supports operational excellence in stores.

Model Store Operations & Merchandising Support

  • Optimize model store layouts, fixture space and labor support to support import reviews, line reviews, and special merchandising projects.
  • Oversee the Sample Approval Letter (SAL) process, including UPC validation, sample management, and storage.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to Merchants regarding store execution capabilities, limitations, and best practices.

Develop & Execute Merchandise Strategy

  • Partner with Merchants to develop and execute merchandising strategies, seasonal programs, and promotional events.
  • Lead the development of store set documentation, implementation guides, and promotional execution materials.
  • Direct Project Managers responsible for key initiatives, including Drive the Business and the Field Leadership meetings.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop effective in-store signage, promotional materials, and customer-facing communications.

Communication & Store Execution

  • Lead the development and distribution of communication tools, including Sales Planners, Weekly Store Newsletters, and Special Project communications.
  • Ensure merchandising programs, promotional initiatives, and operational changes are communicated clearly and consistently to stores.
  • Partner with Store Operations to maximize execution, compliance, and program effectiveness across all locations.
  • Facilitate field feedback sessions and conduct regular store visits to identify opportunities, improve execution, and enhance the customer experience.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team through coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Establish and implement talent development strategies that strengthen organizational capability within Sales Promotions.
  • Serve as a mentor, coach, and influential leader across the organization.

Minimum Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in retail merchandising, store operations, sales planning, or related functions.
  • Demonstrated success leading large cross-functional teams and enterprise-level initiatives in a complex retail environment.
  • Strong understanding of store operations, merchandising principles, and promotional strategy.
  • Proven ability to translate strategic priorities into scalable execution plans that drive measurable business results.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred

Salary Range: $158k-189k base + bonus + equity (based on experience)
