Position Summary

  • As the Dispensing Pharmacist Manager you are responsible for coordination of daily operations within the pharmacy, which includes but is not limited to Pharmacists, IV Dept, Control Room Technicians, Pharmacy Technicians, Delivery, Data Entry and Medical Records in conjunction with the Front-End Pharmacy Supervisor and Back-End Pharmacy Supervisor.
  • Responsibilities

    • Ensure that the pharmacy is in compliance with all local, state, and federal rules and regulations regarding the practice of pharmacy.

    • Assist in ensuring that the pharmacy is in compliance with all DEA policies and procedures as set forth by Omnicare or the regulatory agency, whichever is stricter.

    • Ensure that the pharmacy is in compliance with all third-party payor contract rules and regulations by which the pharmacy is bound.

    • Supervise the pharmacy production staff to ensure proper order entry, workflow, security of the pharmacy area, and adherence to delivery schedules.

    • You ensure new patients and new orders on existing patients are fully assessed for appropriateness of therapy, high risk medications, allergies, adverse indications or interactions, and other potentially adverse outcomes.

    • You assist in preparing the pharmacy budget.

    • You exhibit a solid understanding of inventory control procedures.

    • You ensure timely arrival of medication/supplies to customers.

    • You implement efficient order processing flow according to company practices.

    • You ensure that customer drug-related questions/concerns and other problems are appropriately addressed and resolved by staff.

    • You know and maintain compliance with Omnicare SOPs and all current controlled substance laws, SOX regulation, USP 797 / 795 for sterile/non-sterile compounding, and Omnicare purchasing and formulary initiatives.

    • You ensure that all department staff receive appropriate orientation and training and that competency assessments are completed per policy.

    • You follow all rules and regulations to ensure compliance regarding the collection of Omnicare Framework for Performance Improvement data on a monthly basis as it applies to the operational pharmacy department.

    • You oversee medication error reporting and attempts to correct breakdowns in the dispensing processes to avoid internal dispensing variances.

    • You provide appropriate oversight of all first-dose pharmacy use and communication.

    • You respect the privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient information and property.

    • You supervise appropriate pharmacy staff and dispensing staff

    • You are responsible for scheduling pharmacists & assist with scheduling of pharmacy staff

    • You manage performance evaluations and disciplinary actions of pharmacists & pharmacy staff

    • Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA.

    • Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary by location.



Required Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy required

  • Current license to practice pharmacy in good standing

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two (2) years of long-term care experience

  • Immunization certification or willingness to become immunization certified

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently to plan, develop and coordinate pharmacy activities

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex topics using reasoning abilities to apply advanced mathematical concepts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Knowledge of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacist guidelines for practice, state and federal regulations, and drug indicators for long term care centers

  • Knowledge of all government regulations impacting upon pharmacy

  • Management skills, ability to delegate

  • You're flexible in terms of scheduling

  • You are proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and a variety of Microsoft Office products

The typical pay range for this role is:

$62.40 - $99.16

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
