We are currently seeking a QC Inspector to join our team on First Shift (Monday through Thursday, 5:30AM to 4:00PM).  The QC Inspector will maintain quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, finished products, and recording the results.  Perform first piece, non-conformance and final inspection and other miscellaneous quality inspections.  

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform first piece inspection. Use micrometer and comparator to inspect product for adherence to very tight tolerances in product specifications.  Complete inspection logs with findings, maintain inspection documentation of the retains, and release product for production.   
  • Perform final inspection. Use micrometer and comparator to inspect product for adherence to very tight tolerances in product specifications.  Complete inspection logs with findings, maintain inspection documentation of the retains, and release product to finished goods.   
  • Log in and out of jobs, accurately enter log information in ERP system.
  • Report quality problems and general quality information to Quality Manager.
  • Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calibrating according to schedule.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of current AS9100 standards and requirements.
  • Wear common protective or safety equipment such as gloves, safety goggles, etc. Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and clean work area.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  1. High School Graduate/GED
  2. Preferred two years technical college or courses
  3. A combination of between five to ten years of directly related training and/or experience
  4. Must have a working knowledge of production punch presses, as well as inspection and quality control procedures.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES

  • Knowledge: Knowledge of basic math (i.e. compute square footage), the ability to read, understand, and complete production paperwork.  Knowledge of machines, tools, production processes, and quality control.  Must be able to read blueprints, use production hand tools, such as wrenches, cutting shears and screwdrivers, and precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, verniers, optical comparators, durometer testers and loupes.
  • Language Skills: The position requires the ability to read, and interpret and communicate production information and reports. Must have the ability to write clearly and complete the required production documentation. Must be able to effectively present information clearly and respond effectively to questions.
  • Reasoning Abilities: Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose best solution and solve problems.
  • Organization Skills: Strong organizational skills, strict attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize as necessary.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

Frequent (34-66%) use of hands and arms, reaching, bending and moving about warehouse and production machinery in a light manufacturing environment. Position requires manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination.  Work is not sedentary. Frequent (34-66%) pushing, moving, lifting material weighing up to 80 pounds.

 

Constant mental/visual attention involving close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus throughout the day. Performing dimensional inspection requires close visual attention.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL:

 

The incumbent regularly performs work in a medium production environment where individual is exposed to grease, chips, oil and normal production chemicals and hazards.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.  The noise level in the factory environment can be loud.

 

Travel is not required.
