What is Synthomer looking for?
Synthomer-Chester is seeking a full-time Maintenance Mechanic who employs a safety-oriented approach to maintain and repair all plant equipment in a manufacturing environment to ensure proper operating conditions. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, enjoys working as part of a team and takes pride in their work. This is a first shift position that must be open to after-hours on-call support for Chester operation’s needs. Don't miss this exciting opportunity!
Your tasks and responsibilities…
· Follow all plant safety requirements and participate in activities to continuously improve safety performance.
· Participate in department and site safety initiatives including attending and leading safety meetings as assigned.
· Inspect operational equipment and machines.
· Perform preventive maintenance, such as fluid addition, filter changes, cleaning and greasing of equipment.
· Repair inoperable machinery, replacing parts as necessary.
· Assist with installation and construction of new equipment.
· Install and repair piping.
· Notify supervision when additional supplies are needed.
· Maintain job site housekeeping while working.
· Participate in site teams to consistently meet and improve on customer requirements and organizational goals.
· Use electronic information system to facilitate documentation of work and equipment information.
· Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for off-shift response to breakdowns.
· Perform all duties as requested by manager.
· Print, perform, and complete Work Order System documents for preventive maintenance and repairs of broken equipment.
What do we need from you? (job requirements)
· High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
· Commitment to individual and departmental safety responsibility
· Ability to wear safety equipment as required.
· Ability to obtain a forklift license within 90 days of employment.
· Ability to climb ladders and otherwise work safely from heights.
· Ability to lift at least fifty-five (55) pounds.

What Sets You Apart?
· Competent welder with experience with both pipe and in the field, stick and TIG welding. Formal certification a plus!
· Knowledge of machine shop tools (i.e. mill, lathe, drill press, etc.).
· Ability to operate equipment (i.e. Manlift, Bobcat, Lull, etc.).
