Memorial Hospital in Chester, IL is looking for an individual with great customer service skills, highly organized,  ability to multitask, use systems such as Cerner Medical System, Microsoft Products, and communication app and phone.  This position comes with full benefits, great pay in a friendly and productive work environment.  This position is Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm.  

Job Summary:  

The Referral Specialist is responsible for demonstrating the knowledge and skills required to effectively coordinate all aspects of the referral process. This role ensures the accurate, timely processing and submission of physician referrals for specialty care, Durable Medical Equipment (DME), and the scheduling of referral-related appointments.

Qualifications:

Immunizations: 

Immunizations required per IDPH, CDC, and CMS.

 

Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • CPT and ICD-10 coding knowledge preferred
  • Must know medical terminology, anatomy and physiology

 

Training:

  • Within one to three months of employment, employee must demonstrate knowledge, competency, and proficiency in performing the duties of this position as outlined in the job summary and tasks above.
  • Mandatory training as announced to meet the needs of the organization.

 

Experience: 

  • 1 year of healthcare experience preferred
  • Insurance pre-authorizations required with ICD and CPT knowledge.

 

Work and Physical Requirements:

  • 100% on-site
  • This position requires continuous standing and sitting up to 90% of shift, occasional bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 35# independently.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to continuously operate a keyboard, fax machine, photocopier, scanner and telephone up to 90% of shift.

  • Judgement: High level of critical thinking, problem solving, and sound judgement to meet needs of the patient and the organizational objectives.

  • Versatility: Resourcefulness and ability to meet demands of high volume fast-paced work environment. Ability to multitask and work efficiently. Ability to adapt to change in assignment as needed. Skill in planning, organizing, and attention to detail.

  • Confidentiality: Strict confidentiality required for this position. Must maintain privacy of patients and staffs’ personal protected health information at all times, including when on duty, off duty, and after employment ends.


Benefits: 

This position is a non-exempt status. 

PTO is accrued at .085/per hour worked, up to 40 hours a week (to be used after 90 days of employment for time off and Holidays the department is closed on).  

Wellness H.S.A Medical insurance cost less than $20.00 a month.   Other Insurance options are available for spouse, children and family coverages. 

Retirement contribution of 5% with an optional match program.
