Position Overview
Birch Agency is seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teachers for three separate opportunities within the same school district in Chester, South Carolina.
These positions offer opportunities to work in different special education settings and grade levels. We are looking for educators who are passionate about providing individualized instruction and helping students with diverse learning needs succeed academically, socially, and developmentally.
Three opportunities are currently available within the district:
Special Education Resource Elementary: Provide specialized academic support and resource services to elementary students.
Special Education Resource Intermediate: Provide resource services and individualized instruction to intermediate-level students.
Special Education Self-Contained Moderate Disabilities, K2: Provide individualized instruction and support in a self-contained classroom serving young students with moderate disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Provide specialized and differentiated instruction based on individual student needs and IEP goals.
Deliver services in resource and/or self-contained classroom settings.
Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, accommodations, and assessments.
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation and progress reports.
Implement positive behavior supports and effective classroom management strategies.
Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, administrators, families, and related service providers.
Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development activities.
Foster a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field preferred.
Active South Carolina Special Education certification required or eligibility to obtain certification.
Experience working in resource or self-contained special education settings preferred.
Experience supporting students with moderate disabilities is a plus.
Strong communication, organizational, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
Ability to support students across different grade levels and educational settings.
Work Environment
