Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Inspection & Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled inspections of overhead cranes, monorails, hoists, jib cranes, and related lifting equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance according to manufacturer specifications and customer requirements.
  • Identify worn, damaged, or unsafe components and recommend corrective actions.
  • Complete OSHA and ASME required inspections and documentation.

Troubleshooting & Repair

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and structural issues.
  • Repair and replace motors, brakes, gearboxes, contactors, relays, limit switches, controls, VFDs, wire rope, chains, hooks, and other crane components.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems including single-phase and three-phase power systems.
  • Perform emergency service calls and equipment repairs to minimize customer downtime.

Installation & Modernization

  • Assist with crane and hoist installations, upgrades, and modernization projects.
  • Install and wire electrical controls, festoon systems, pendant controls, and radio remote systems.
  • Perform load testing and operational verification following installations and repairs.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Complete detailed service reports and inspection records.
  • Communicate findings, repair recommendations, and project updates to customers and management.
  • Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and equipment used.

 

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in crane, hoist, industrial maintenance, electrical, or related technical field.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret:
    • Electrical schematics
    • Mechanical drawings
    • Wiring diagrams
    • Equipment manuals
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Able to work independently and manage service schedules effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with overhead cranes, wire rope hoists, chain hoists, and material handling equipment.
  • Industrial maintenance, millwright, electrician, or controls experience.
  • NCCCO Crane Inspector Certification.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
  • NFPA 70E Training.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Knowledge of ASME B30 standards and CMAA specifications.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access elevated work platforms.
  • Comfortable working at heights of up to 100 feet or more with proper fall protection.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
