Process Engineer Summer Intern

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Process Engineer Summer Intern at our Cheswick, PA location to support continuous improvement, manufacturing efficiency, and operational excellence initiatives within our production environment. This internship provides hands-on experience working alongside engineering, production, quality, and maintenance teams to analyze processes, identify improvement opportunities, and support implementation of operational solutions.

Who You Are: A junior/senior level student pursuing a degree in engineering and has strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with an interest in manufacturing operations.

What Brought You Here:

• $20-$23 per hour
• Typical schedule: Monday–Friday (8 AM – 5 PM) with occasional swing shifts

What You Will be Doing:

• Assist with evaluating manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency
• Collect and analyze production data to identify trends, waste, and process improvement opportunities
• Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and problem-solving methodologies
• Participate in process mapping, root cause analysis, and corrective action activities
• Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures, work instructions, and process documentation
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, and safety teams on operational projects
• Conduct time studies and workflow analysis to support labor and equipment optimization
• Help monitor process performance and recommend improvements to reduce downtime and scrap
• Support implementation of engineering projects and process changes
• Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards

Skills You Bring:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in:
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Or related engineering field
• Minimum GPA requirement 3.00
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, AutoCAD/CNC, or data analysis tools is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in an industrial/manufacturing environment in heat
• Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 75 pounds as needed
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
