Process Engineer Summer Intern

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Process Engineer Summer Intern at our Cheswick, PA location to support continuous improvement, manufacturing efficiency, and operational excellence initiatives within our production environment. This internship provides hands-on experience working alongside engineering, production, quality, and maintenance teams to analyze processes, identify improvement opportunities, and support implementation of operational solutions.

Who You Are: A junior/senior level student pursuing a degree in engineering and has strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with an interest in manufacturing operations.

What Brought You Here:
- $20-$23 per hour
- Typical schedule: Monday–Friday (8 AM – 5 PM) with occasional swing shifts

What You Will be Doing:
- Assist with evaluating manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency
- Collect and analyze production data to identify trends, waste, and process improvement opportunities
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and problem-solving methodologies
- Participate in process mapping, root cause analysis, and corrective action activities
- Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures, work instructions, and process documentation
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, and safety teams on operational projects
- Conduct time studies and workflow analysis to support labor and equipment optimization
- Help monitor process performance and recommend improvements to reduce downtime and scrap
- Support implementation of engineering projects and process changes
- Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
Skills You Bring:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in:
- Industrial Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Or related engineering field
- Minimum GPA requirement 3.00
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, AutoCAD/CNC, or data analysis tools is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in an industrial/manufacturing environment in heat
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 75 pounds as needed
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
