Job Requirements

A Day in the Life of a Perioperative CNA


Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Surgical Services or designee (OR Supervisor, RN Coordinator). Performs a variety of tasks including transporting patients, preparing and cleanup of surgical cases in the OR. Responsible for transporting equipment and supplies to the OR suite. Responsible for assisting the OR RN in the delivery of care to the surgical patient. Fiscal management of supplies is a shared responsibility for all team members. Remains conscious of sterile technique at all times. Performs the functions as assigned. Work under the direction of a RN.

Here is What You Will Be Doing:

  • Transports patients to and from surgery after checking the chart for appropriate documentation.
  • Assigned to a specific OR suite in which they assist the OR RN with patient care, including transfer of patients to and from bed, position and prep, opening sterile supplies, apply monitor leads, and transport equipment to and from the room.
  • Maintains strict aseptic technique.
  • Cleans the room during turnovers and terminally cleans the room at the end of the day.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, quality assurance programs, and safety standards.
  • Handles equipment, instruments, and supplies to prevent damage or loss.
  • Completes mandatory education and contact education requirements including 12 CEUs per year.

Here is What You Need:

  • Current Wyoming Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license from the Wyoming State Board of Nursing
  • 14 Days: Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within fourteen (14) calendar days of start date
  • 6 Months: Completion of OR competency-based training within six (6) months of start date
