Job DetailsJob Location: 35 - Parks - Cheyenne, WY 82001Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High School or GEDJob Category: General LaborMaintenance Technician   JOB TITLE:                 Parks Greenway Maintenance Technician CLASSIFICATION:    Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT:        CRE/Parks Greenway SUPERVISOR:          Parks Foreman, Parks Supervisor & Parks Manager SALARY:                    $38,336 to $53,670 Annually   GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION                                                                                                     To perform semi-skilled and skilled work in the construction, maintenance, and related service activities to City Parks.  Operate heavy construction and maintenance equipment in support of Parks operations.  Employees within this class perform the full range of duties as assigned.    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                 Operate various hand tools; operate light equipment (mowers, trucks, carts, etc.); clean and maintain equipment including pre/post trip inspections; operate various heavy equipment (dump truck, snowplows, tractors, etc.). Compile and organize materials to be used on jobs assigned. Perform grounds maintenance activities for City Parks, such as snow removal, mow, and trim grass, maintain plants and shrubs, lay sod, apply pesticides and fertilizers, aerate, fence repair, etc. Perform grounds maintenance activities for City athletic facilities, such as field striping, preparing infields, cleaning dugouts, mound, and warning track maintenance, etc. Collect and remove trash and debris from Park grounds daily to ensure areas are clean and aesthetically pleasing, including cleaning public restrooms and shelters. Assist in maintaining playgrounds and making minor repairs. Participate in special events and on call responsibilities. Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude towards the public and co-workers.  Be a role model/mentor for other employees within the city.   SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                                Respond to public inquires in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES                                                                               Basic methods and techniques of general construction, maintenance and repair related to the areas of work assigned. Basic knowledge of equipment and tools used in work assigned. Occupational hazards and standard safety practices. Operate a variety of vehicular and stationary mechanical equipment in a safe and effective manner. Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time and in unfavorable weather conditions. Perform heavy manual labor. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work. Being on call and work weekends, emergency snow removal, special events, etc. Perform work independently in the absence of supervision.   QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB                                                                                Required: High school diploma or GED.   Preferred: Two (2) years of experience performing field maintenance work. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 50 pounds.
