Plans, organizes, and provides quality swimming and water safety instruction. Flexible work schedule; weekly hours vary between 7 - 18 hours, based on employee availability..   PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                 Plans and organizes personal class teaching outlines, methods and goals that support the general teaching outlines provided by the Lesson Supervisor and the Aquatic Programmer. Organizes and directs activities of assigned students to provide a high level of quality instruction for all students. Ensures that all class students are registered, with a registration card prior to the beginning of class, are thoroughly involved, are on a first-name personalized basis in meaningful instruction for the duration and are in receipt of appropriate certificates and awards as the session concludes. Establishes positive public relations with parents/guardians of class students helping them recognize and understand swimming developments and achievements. Resolves simple public complaints in matters related to swimming instruction and refers other complaints to the Lesson Supervisor.   Enforces pool safety standards and facility operational rules for all individuals using the facilities. Helps organize and assists in the development of special programs, activities, or instruction. Works with the Lesson Supervisor on an on-going basis to upgrade, improve and refine the individual teaching skills related to teaching effective swimming lessons to various age groups and various skill levels. Maintains an on-going program of personal physical fitness.   SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                                   Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES                                                                               Must be 15 years of age. Basic Aquatic Facility structure. English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Work independently in the absence of supervision. Respond to requests and inquiries from the public. Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Communicate clearly and concisely, both oral and written. Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Swimming requirements to maintain ability to teach appropriate classes. General lifting of no more than 50 pounds with assistance of other employees. QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB                                                                                Required: Must be fifteen (15) years of age. Preferred: First Aid/CPR/AED certification Prior experience with Children PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS                                                                                          The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 50 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.   Working Environment: Aquatic Facility that will include loud, constant noises, higher humidity levels.
