THE ROLE

American Realty Advisors is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Summer Intern to join our Asset Management team in Chicago. This is an 8-week, paid, full-time, in-person internship designed for Rising Seniors who are passionate about commercial real estate and eager to gain hands-on experience in the industry.

The intern will be immersed primarily in acquisition activities but will also gain valuable exposure to asset management, accounting, research and strategy and portfolio management. This opportunity offers a broad view of the real estate investment lifecycle while contributing directly to the performance and strategic oversight of a national portfolio.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Asset Management team in evaluating property performance and operational trends.
  • Review and analyze property-level financial data, leasing reports, and budget variances.
  • Participate in market research projects and property benchmarking efforts.
  • Support asset managers with property inspections and comparative market tours.
  • Assist in preparing internal reports, presentations, and strategy materials.
  • Learn how to extract and analyze data from key institutional real estate platforms including Argus Enterprise, MRI, and CoStar.
  • Attend cross-functional meetings with teams in acquisitions, portfolio management, and accounting to understand the interdependencies across the investment platform.
  • Gain exposure to lease analysis, budgeting, capital planning, and asset valuation processes.
  • Attend weekly pipeline and investment committee meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal Candidate

  • Rising Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in commercial real estate through coursework or extracurricular activities.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Argus, CoStar, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Resides in the Chicago area and able to commute to the Downtown Chicago office daily.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
