POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Office Manager oversees daily front-end operations and provides leadership and direction to achieve profitable operations of all front-end related services in the company. The Assistant Office Manager ensures all front end programs are executed consistently.
 
The Assistant Office Manager is responsible for development of cashiers and other front-end employees and to continually grow the team's capacity for efficiency, effectiveness and service and meet the company's succession needs. The person in this role is expected to be a role model of the company by driving results while maintaining company core values.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Supports Office Manager functions when necessary, including administrative tasks, store walks and HR support functions such as recruiting and onboarding.
  • Dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customers. Demonstrates care and compassion for people; shows empathy and concern. Builds and maintains positive team relationships; relates well to diverse people; is approachable.
  • Provides guidance to cashiers to connect the metrics to business processes and focuses on continuous improvement strategies to achieve business objectives.
  • Ensures front end operations are in full compliance with company, federal, state, and local regulatory laws and requirements around health, safety, labor, and workers' compensation.
  • Clearly communicates and enforces standards for quality, cleanliness, organization, customer service, safety, loss prevention, sanitation, Front End conditions and food safety to all team members.
  • Ensures that all goals on the front end are met in regards to bottom of the basket.
  • Implements operational best practices for the front-end functions.
  • Coordinates store training for cashier training & policies to include WIC, checks, liquor, and tobacco.
  • Implements procedures for voids, refunds, transaction cancellation, and instructions for saved recall transactions.
  • Administers cashier productivity programs such as produce and bakery testing.
  • Ensures WIC Compliance and training in store.
  • Creates daily schedule from front end employees, including cashiers, courtesy clerks, and carts.
  • Responsible for front end overtime reduction and controls.
  • Maintains clean and organized front end, ensuring all employees are in uniform and in compliance with company personal appearance standards.
  • Provides security awareness training for all front-end team members.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Team Member Development:
  • Develops plans for all front-end positions within the store to meet company growth goals.
  • Recruits, selects, orientates, trains, coaches, counsels and develops the best cashiers to achieve front end goals and ensures that the company has labor.
  • Cultivates a culture of high performance and accountability. Sets clear performance expectations for cashiers and follows up with timely performance evaluations and development plans.
  • Improves cashier turnover and keeps turnover at company goals.
  • Embraces positive employee relations through consistent and fair application of company policies and leadership values.
Customer Service:
  • Maintains a positive work environment and ensures fair and consistent treatment of all team members.
  • Leads by example on the importance of customer service excellence. Engage with customers always.
  • Guarantees store front ends have staffing needed to deliver expected service.
  • Develop tactics, recommendations and reviews, to have friendly team members and clean Front Ends
  • Improves speed and efficiency of service in all departments.
Leadership & Management Skills
  • Proven leadership and ability to motivate inspire and create engagement. Exemplifies the desired culture, values and philosophies of the organization (high ethics, integrity, trust, respect, loyalty and humility).
  • Proven ability to manage stress and remain cool under pressure. Effectively copes with change and leads to company change initiatives across the district. Assertive when dealing with conflict and maintains responsibility for outcomes.
  • Provides translation of communication to front end team.
  • Able to manage and administer a broad range of tasks including resolving complaints, counseling members on the interpretation of policies and procedures.
Financial Results:
  • Supports programs to control shrink and contain costs at an acceptable level.
  • Reviews of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) with front end teams
  • Analyzes data and determines areas of opportunity as well as plans for remediating performance gaps.
  • Works with store leadership to promote safety and ZERO accident culture.
  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations at all locations while upholding company values, customer service philosophies, and winning environment initiatives at store level.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3+ years' front end retail experience.
  • Confident working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment and exhibit excellent multi-tasking skills.
  • Proven experience in dealing effectively with diverse team members and customer issues.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws applicable to effectively running a front end, governmental compliance requirements, employment and labor laws, including company immigration compliance guidelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills (including active listening).
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand both English and Spanish sufficiently to understand conversations, presentations, company manuals, forms and documents.
  • Proficient computer skills in the areas of e-mail, Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel, etc.) required.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMAND AND WORK CONDITIONS:
The physical demands and work conditions below represent those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Work in a retail office environment with varying noise levels.
  • Operate standard office equipment
  • Lift, push, pull, and/or carry-up to 50 lbs.
  • Tasks may involve stooping, walking, and bending
  • Environment is typical of a retail store and may include exposure to extreme temperature changes, moisture, noise, odors, and moving equipment.
  • Other physical activities such as reaching, bending, and climbing may be required.

The pay scale above is the hourly wage range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position.
*Manager roles have a bonus target potential paid out quarterly based on company results/metrics.

Within this range, individual pay is determined by location and other factors including,
but not limited to, specific skills, relevant work experience, and relevant education and/or training.
