About the Role:Â
Sheer Logistics is a technology-enabled 4PL & 3PL focused on transparency, service excellence, and long-term customer partnerships. We’re looking for a Business Development Manager (Player-Coach) to drive growth through new client acquisition while leading and developing a small team of Business Development Representatives.
This role is ideal for a proven 3PL sales leader who can both close business and lead teams that execute operationally.
What You’ll Do:Â
· Personally source, sell, and close new business with new customers.
· Own the full sales cycle from prospecting through contract execution.
· Lead, coach, and develop a small team responsible for both sales and operations.
· Drive growth from existing accounts while securing new business.
· Ensure operational excellence, service quality, and margin performance across accounts.
· Partner with internal teams to deliver scalable, profitable logistics solutions.
· Track pipelines, KPIs, and performance to ensure consistent results.
What You Bring:Â
· 4–6+ years of experience in freight brokerage or 3PL services.
· Proven success closing new business as an individual contributor.
· Demonstrated experience leading teams responsible for both sales and operations.
· Strong understanding of freight markets, pricing, and execution.
· Hands-on leadership style with excellent coaching and communication skills.
POSITION DETAILS
Compensation:Â
We offer a competitive salary along with a variable bonus.
RANGE: $100,000 TO $135,000 plus Variable
Work Location:Â
Sheer’s Chicago or Atlanta office. We offer a hybrid arrangement.Â
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
This role is mostly office based with travel required as needed.
