Job DetailsJob Location: DBS Headquarters - Chicago, IL 60606Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High SchoolSalary Range: $89,192.00 - $108,000.00 Salary/yearPOSITION GOAL: The CADD Technician IV will perform advanced-level CADD drafting/engineering duties associated with the design of various engineering projects. This position supports all aspects of design projects for roadways, utilities, transit, structural, electrical, etc.; prepares schematics & models. May be named as the assistant CADD Manager.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - GENERAL •    Acquires advanced knowledge and skills through mentored experience. •    Evaluates and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment. •    Performs work assignments of moderate to advanced complexity. Contributes to specific objectives and outcomes. •    Receives instruction on specific objectives and direction on possible solutions to unconventional or complex problems. •    Works as part of a team and coordinates work with others. •    Typically receives minimal supervision on most aspects of assignments and a general review of all aspects of work but may work independently. •    Possesses proficient oral and written communication skills. •    Interacts primarily with internal project team members.  •    Adheres to project deadlines and keeps the task manager informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments. •    Performs review of own work before submitting to the next review level.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES – SPECIFIC •    Develops detailed construction plans for electrical, roadway, utility and transportation projects using Bentley and/or Autodesk software. •    Coordinates design changes and revisions based on internal or external feedback. •    Communicates regularly with internal design staff and project lead to coordinate the progress of various assignments and adhere to project deadlines. May act as project CADD lead. •    Independently manages time and schedule to achieve multiple project milestones •    Organizes and maintains project files.  •    Evaluates and applies applicable current drafting standards, and federal and/or local requirements to assigned projects. •    Helps coordinate and document completion of quality control reviews throughout the lifecycle of a project.   •    May participate in meetings with clients.  •    May provide guidance to entry level staff.    COMPETENCIES: •    Can work effectively as a team player. •    Ability to build constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect for our stakeholders. •    Show insight into the root causes of problems. Licensure: N/A Job Classification: Exempt (Salaried) Report to: CADD Manager or Project Engineer – Team Lead  Experience: Typically 8+ years  Communication Skills: Proficient verbal and written communication skills. Technical Skills: Design/drafting skills to visualize projects in 2D and 3D. Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and CADD software, specifically the Bentley Suite of products including MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, ProjectWise and/or Autodesk Suite including AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Advanced knowledge of CADD standards and drafting requirements for local agencies.  Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversee the work of CADD technicians  Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel, climb, or balance, talk, or hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects tools or control. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on occasion.  Working Environment: This job may require long periods of standing or walking in the field and include exposure to all types of outside weather conditions, varying noise levels, and hazards associated with construction. Wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment is required while performing work in the field. The employee may also be exposed to a general office environment, requiring long periods of sitting at a computer in ambient inside temperature, lighting and noise level. Due to the collaborative nature of this position, the work will need to be performed in the field or office, typically during normal business hours. Travel may be required; must possess a valid license.  Continuing Education: Complete state-required competency.
