Geo Marketing Manager - New York/ Chicago

Cooley is seeking a Geo Marketing Manager to join the Marketing and Client Development team.

Position summary:Ā This role is part of the Strategy, Transformation & Growth Team, which acts as the firm’s "central nervous system," building the scalable infrastructure and data-backed frameworks that allow Marketing & Client Development to move from reactive execution to proactive, high-impact strategy. It ensures that strategic choices and unique brand differentiating experiences (spanning high-end events to targeted digital channels) are translated into repeatable, optimized market performance that makes the firm stand out in market. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Ā

Position responsibilities:Ā 

  • Market-Aligned Execution: Execute the firm’s event, client hospitality, and sponsorship strategies in direct alignment with specific market nuances and practice group priorities.Ā 

  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with MCD and market leaders to co-design programs that drive high-value client engagement and intentional cross-selling.Ā 

  • End-to-End Market Planning: Lead the comprehensive planning and delivery of firm-hosted, market-based events, ensuring every activation meets rigorous brand standards and quality benchmarks.Ā 

  • Sponsorship Assessment: Critically evaluate regional sponsorship opportunities, providing data-backed recommendations to ensure strategic fit and measurable business outcomes.Ā 

  • Governance & Process Implementation: Apply established firm-wide criteria and governance processes to manage event and sponsorship requests, ensuring disciplined investment across the region.Ā 

  • Strategic Client Hospitality: Support high-touch hospitality planning for priority clients and key firm milestones, collaborating with development teams to enhance partner-led relationship building.Ā 

  • Performance Tracking & Analytics: Monitor and report on regional performance metrics, specifically highlighting engagement data and the program's contribution to the business pipeline.Ā 

  • Post-Event Conversion: Coordinate structured follow-up strategies with client development teams to ensure event engagement is successfully transitioned into tangible business opportunities.Ā 

  • Vendor & Agency Management: Direct relationships with local vendors, venues, and creative agencies to guarantee high-quality execution and adherence to budget.Ā 

  • Budget Ownership: Support management of the specific budgets for assigned markets, ensuring precise tracking, variance reporting, and cost-efficiency.Ā 

  • Team Leadership & Enablement: Supervise and guide the in-market support teams, reinforcing best practices and deploying standardized tools and templates to ensure operational efficiency.Ā 

  • People Leader:Ā Ā 

  • Serve as direct supervisor and mentor to direct reportsĀ 

  • Provide day-to-day supervision of direct reports, ensure compliance with assigned work hours and monitor for compliance with all firm and department policies. Manage staffing coverage, review and process time logs/time off requestsĀ 

  • Support business professional development and continued educational opportunitiesĀ 

  • In collaboration with immediate supervisor and central HR, participate in hiring, performance appraisals, counseling, termination and other employee lifecycle eventsĀ Ā 

  • All other duties as assigned or requiredĀ

Skills and experience:Ā 

Required:Ā 

  • After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applicationsĀ 

  • Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as requiredĀ 

  • Ability to travel, as requiredĀ 

  • 5+ years applicable experience in the field(e.g., marketing or business development, preferably with an emphasis working in a strategy, transformation, or growth function)Ā 

  • Must have professional services industry experience and/or B2B marketing experienceĀ 

  • Must have experience working with local business organizations for the purposes of brand and relationships opportunityĀ 

  • Must have experience with TicketManager and CRMĀ 

Preferred:Ā 

  • Bachelor’s degreeĀ 

  • Supervisory experienceĀ 

  • Prior legal industry or professional services experienceĀ

The expected annual pay range for this position with a full-time schedule is $120,000 - $160,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
