Job DetailsJob Location: DBS Headquarters - Chicago, IL 60606Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: 4 Year DegreeSalary Range: $73,145.00 - $87,774.00 Salary/yearPOSITION GOAL: The Human Resources Generalist will lead efforts to ensure the development and implementation of talent acquisition and management strategies through partnering with hiring managers to help with recruiting efforts, developing job descriptions, preparing job postings, and interviewing candidates. The position will assess and help leaders and managers understand and administer personnel policies, programs, and procedures necessary for business success; Give advice on compensation including salary, promotions, and benefits; Facilitate the design and development of employee learning, development, and performance processes. In this role, you will serve as administrator for several critical human resources functions and workforce management, employee/labor relations, compensation, benefits, training, diversity, employee engagement, and employee records; Facilitate and communicate organizational policies and programs and ensure labor law and regulatory compliance.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •    Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications. •    Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. •    Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications. •    Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs. •    Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. •    Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. •    Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. •    Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. •    Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. •    Performs other duties as assigned   COMPETENCIES: •    Works under minimal supervision •    Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. •    Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. •    Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills. •    Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.  QualificationsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.  Licensure: Certificate in HRCI or SHRM preferred but not required.  Job Classification:  Exempt (Salaried) Report to: Human Resources Director Experience: 3+ years; Experience in the AEC industry preferred  Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills  Technical Skills: Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related Software.  Supervisory Responsibilities: None Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel, climb, or balance, talk, or hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects tools or control. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on occasion.  Working Environment: General office environment requiring long periods of sitting at a computer. The environmental conditions generally include ambient inside temperature, lighting, and noise level. Due to the collaborative nature of this position and accessibility for in-house meetings, it is important that the work may need to be performed in the office and during normal business hours.
