POSITION TITLE: Individual Giving Manager

GENERAL DESCRIPTION 
At Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, our mission is to awaken the human spirit through contemporary dance, envisioning a dance landscape that is relevant and accessible to all. 
Hubbard Street Dance Chicago is seeking an experienced fundraising professional to join the Development Team. The Individual Giving Manager helps lead a collaborative team to meet or exceed annual fundraising goals, manages Hubbard Street’s individual giving program, and serves as a dynamic gift officer. This highly visible role engages Chicago’s philanthropic and arts communities while supporting the work of a leading contemporary dance company approaching its 50th anniversary season.
Hubbard Street is a hybrid work environment. The Development Team conducts day-to-day operations remotely between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and team members are encouraged to work in person 1–2 days per week. In-person attendance is required for performances, events, and meetings or projects as needed. On average, HSDC hosts one fundraiser per year, approximately 10–15 cultivation and stewardship events, and three performance series in the fall, spring, and winter.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: 
- $65,000 per year

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
FUNDRAISING
- Make 15 documented weekly contacts with prospective and current donors through in-person meetings, phone, and email seeking to advance them to increasingly higher financial commitments.
- Directly solicit individual donors across all levels of support, including Director’s Circle donors of $5,000+, Circle Places Society donors of $250–$4,999, and sustaining donors of $10–$249.
- With guidance from the Director of Development, curate cultivation, stewardship, recognition, and engagement opportunities for donors at all levels in collaboration with leaders across Artistic, Production, Education, and Marketing.
- Develop and manage multi-channel fundraising strategies for donors at all levels, including scheduling, project management, database structure, and audience segmentation.
- Assist in the identification of potential board of director candidates from within the Company’s individual giving donor base.
- Pull appropriate lists and reports from Tessitura to analyze and interpret data to help guide departmental strategy and direction.
- Maintain a working familiarity with departmental annual goals and budget.

MANAGEMENT
- Directly supervise two Development team members.
- Carefully monitor and regularly review team performance toward goals and objectives.
- Oversee relationships with key vendors, such as graphic designers, printers, e-commerce providers, etc.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
- A minimum of 3-5 years in nonprofit fundraising
- Experience with direct donor solicitation, meaningful donor cultivation and stewardship, database integrity, and team management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and project management skills
- Ability to develop meaningful relationships with donors.
- Knowledge of Chicago’s arts and culture philanthropic environment
- Strong managerial, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of multi-channel fundraising processes
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, set and coordinate priorities, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Experience with a CRM database.
- Knowledge of maintaining and updating a project management system, like Asana.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office applications.
