Our team supports our issuers and investors by offering deep institutional knowledge of the market. position summary & purpose The Junior Underwriter supports the Municipal Capital Markets team in the analysis, structuring, and execution of municipal securities transactions. This position provides analytical and administrative support throughout the underwriting process, including financial analysis, market research, transaction preparation, and due diligence activities.  Working closely with senior underwriting professionals, public finance bankers, sales, and trading teams, the Junior Underwriter will develop foundational knowledge of municipal finance, capital markets, underwriting practices, and transaction execution. This role is designed for individuals seeking to build a long-term career in municipal underwriting and capital markets. Essential duties and resPONSIBILITIEs Assist senior underwriting professionals with the execution of municipal bond transactions. Support financial analysis, pricing reviews, credit evaluations, and market research activities. Gather and organize financial, issuer, and market data used in underwriting decisions. Prepare transaction summaries, pricing comparisons, and underwriting support materials. Assist in reviewing offering documents, official statements, and due diligence materials. Maintain underwriting spreadsheets, databases, and transaction tracking reports. Monitor municipal market activity and assist in preparing market commentary and updates. Support syndicate, sales, and trading teams by providing transaction-related information and reports. Assist in preparing pitch books, presentations, and proposal materials. Coordinate internal documentation and approval processes for new transactions. Help ensure transaction files are complete and maintained in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Participate in training programs and professional development opportunities to build underwriting expertise. Contribute ideas and insights during team discussions while developing underwriting knowledge and expertise. knowledge, skills & abilities requirements Basic understanding of finance, economics, accounting, or capital markets concepts. Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment. Strong organizational skills and professional demeanor. Familiarity with Bloomberg, IPREO, Capital IQ, or similar financial platforms is preferred but not required. Interest in municipal finance and capital markets. EDUCATION & work experience Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required. 0-2 years of experience in finance, banking, capital markets, accounting, or a related field. Relevant internships in investment banking, public finance, underwriting, or financial services are strongly preferred. Demonstrated academic achievement and analytical aptitude preferred. required licenses & certificates FINRA Series 52, Series 7, and Series 63 licenses preferred or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe after hire.
