Title: Â Laborer (Maintenance)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS:  Under immediate supervision, performs common labor work necessary in general maintenance work. Operates any mechanical or power-driven apparatus or equipment essential to the performance of the duties of this position. Performs related duties as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Operates a hand lawn mower.
- Picks up paper. Â
- Spades, seeds, waters and rakes lawn areas. Â
- Sweeps walks and roadway gutters.Â
- Digs, waters, rolls and marks with lines softball and baseball diamonds, running tracks, tennis courts and football fields. Â
- Cleans catch basins. Â
- Removes snow and ice. Â
- Spreads sanding materials and makes and maintains ice for skating. Â
- Operates special equipment. Â
- Loads and unloads trucks. Â
- Performs labor work in connection with removing, planting or trimming trees. Â
- Digs trenches. Â
- Assists in sowing flower beds and performs necessary maintenance works in greenhouses.Â
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience:
- Experience in performing manual labor work. Â
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
License Requirement: Valid State of Illinois Driver’s LicenseÂ
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to operate maintenance equipment in a safe an efficient manner. Â
- Ability to perform manual labor. Â
- Ability to respond to routine inquiries from the public.
