Job Title: Line Cook

Pay Rate: $20/hour

Job Summary:

The Line Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating Italian dishes in a fast-paced kitchen environment. They work under the guidance of the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager, ensuring that all food is prepared with quality ingredients, according to recipes, and presented beautifully. The Line Cook plays an essential role in delivering a positive dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook a variety of Italian dishes, including pasta, pizzas, risotto, sauces, and antipasti, based on the restaurant's recipes and standards.

Portion and prepare ingredients in advance for daily use.

Follow all food safety guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation of ingredients.

Cook dishes to order with a focus on consistency, flavor, and presentation.

Plate food according to restaurant standards to ensure quality and appeal.

Ensure each dish is cooked to the correct temperature and seasoned properly.

Clean and sanitize cooking stations, utensils, and equipment after each shift.

Adhere to safety and hygiene protocols to ensure a clean, organized kitchen.

Properly dispose of food waste and maintain cleanliness throughout the shift.

Monitor inventory levels for kitchen supplies and ingredients.

Notify the Kitchen Manager of any shortages or quality issues with ingredients.

Work efficiently to ensure food is prepared and served in a timely manner, especially during peak hours.

Multitask while maintaining focus on cooking quality dishes.

Stay up-to-date on menu items, daily specials, and any changes to the menu.

Be prepared to adapt to special requests or dietary needs (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a line cook or similar kitchen position, preferably in an Italian style restaurant.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of Italian cuisine and cooking techniques, especially pasta-making, pizza preparation, and sauce creation.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, work in hot environments, and lift heavy items.
  • Certifications: Food safety certification
