Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a LPN - Clinic Medicating with our Transplant clinic. In this role you will partner with the rest of the clinical team to provide patients the highest quality of care. 

 

In this role as the LPN - Clinic Medicating you would be responsible for providing nursing care to patients under the supervision of a registered professional nurse. Patient Centered care principles and practical nursing standards provide the foundation for the care provided.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

  • Demonstrates knowledge of current trends, concepts and issues of professional nursing practice related to transplant
  • Arranges/prepares patients and family for procedures, i.e. utilizing established teaching/research protocols 
  • Participates in activies as determined by supervisor
  • Identifies and communicates patient/family problems to appropriate members of the health care team 
  • Collaborates with nursing care center leadership to maintain patient care standards across inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Acts as a resource person for the nursing staff on related subjects
  • Maintains all patient information/records as directed in accordance with hospitals policies and procedures 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • A completed High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited body
  • Current IL LPN License
  • Graduate from a State-Approved course of study
  • Successful completion of a pharmacology course
  • Active BLS Certification 
  • Experience working in a community health setting 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

 

  • Considerable skill in communicating verbally, in determining priorities and in organizing work; ability to maintain an organized, alphabetized filing system
  • General working knowledge of PC. Excel, Microsoft Word for windows, OASIS and EPIC
  • Computerized appointment scheduling experience
  • Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment
  • Considerable skill in handling sensitive public contacts with discretion, tact and courtesy when dealing with patients, coworkers, and physicians
  • Physical ability to perform stocking, lifting, and transporting supplies and instruments
