Nursing Clinical Coordinator (IDPL) - IC
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Nursing Clinical Coordinator reports to the Associate Dean of Nursing and will oversee all aspects of student clinical placements, the acquisition of new/suitable sites, assurance of appropriate clinical orientation of faculty, provide student clinical (minimum of one clinical course per semester), provides nursing skills lab instruction, supports student success, and ensures compliance with accreditation and clinical requirements. This requires constant communication with the clinical sites, the Associate Dean of Nursing, and the faculty.
The Nursing Clinical Coordinator will have the opportunity to enhance the quality of the nursing program and promote evidence-based practices within a high-performing student-centered learning environment. One method is to provide strategies and academic reinforcement to students throughout their academic program as well as support sessions. The Nursing Clinical Coordinator will provide instruction, tutoring, remediation, and evaluation in clinical learning concepts, including Skills Lab (and Simulations as appropriate).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the mission of Instituto College and the nursing program while adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of the institution, program, regulating and accrediting bodies, and clinical sites.
- Establish and maintain sufficient knowledge and understanding of Instituto College’s ADN program and curriculum.
- Establish and maintain positive and innovative working relationships with clinical partners and nursing staff through phone, email, and in-person communications.
- Collaborate with clinical sites to provide clinical rotations that provide evidence-based learning opportunities and meet students’ learning objectives.
- Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Nursing to prepare the master clinical and skills lab schedules.
- Oversee nursing faculty and student compliance with required health screenings, immunizations, drug screenings (as required), and BLS certification, ensuring all compliance date is communicated directly and promptly to the Associate Dean of Nursing.
- Ensure completion of annual clinical site evaluations and reports to Associate Dean of Nursing.
- Evaluate student learning, and perform student skills lab and clinical evaluations.
- Maintain accurate records of completed student evaluations and course work.
- Maintain accurate data for reporting purposes (accreditation, stakeholders, etc.).
- Provide support to foster student learning, retention, persistence, and completion.
- Identify and promptly communicate skills lab equipment repairs needed to the Associate Dean of Nursing for prompt repair.
- Responsible for obtaining and maintaining current clinical affiliation agreements.
- Document and report students’ academic progress and attendance issues, per SAP policy, to leadership.
- Attend and participate in orientation for students and new clinical faculty.
- Continuously engage in personal and professional development and scholarly activities.
- Participate in accreditation continuous readiness such as collection and analysis of data for reporting and program evaluation needs; assists with planning and implementing accreditation readiness activities.
- Attend and participate in departmental and faculty meetings.
- Attend and participate in Advisory Committee meetings.
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS
- Master’s Degree in Nursing required
- Current Professional Nurse (RN) licensure registered in Illinois required
- Evidence of CEU’s as required for license renewal required
- Current BLS (CPR and AED) required; ACLS and PALS certifications preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of successful experience teaching nursing students full-time preferred
- Minimum of 2 years competent practice in direct-care clinical nursing with at least 2 years in medical-surgical clinical nursing preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience in specialized remediation and tutoring support preferred
- Minimum 1 year of Simulation Lab Experience utilizing current evolving design methods that include technologies preferred
- Solid knowledge base of ATI resources to successfully support the ADN program’s educational practices and provide student academic support preferred
- Expertise with college-level instructional technologies preferred
- Ability to create a learning environment that enhances development of cognitive and career-readiness skills
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
- Excellent time management, organizational, and writing skills; as well as critical thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to represent the organization and program with positive and professional poise
- Ability to work independently, as well as the ability to be a positive and proactive participant within a teamÂ
- Innovative self-starter with the ability to multitask, and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment

- Willingness to complete training to teach multi-option (e.g., synchronous, asynchronous) courses

Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard technology. Requires long period of standing. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, and maintain work files. Position involves lifting, pushing, bending, and reaching.
WORKING CONDITIONSÂ
Majority of work performed in a classroom, lab, or healthcare facility environment. Position requires availability for extended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform job duties. Must be able to travel to clinical sites. Also requires participation and attendance at organization sponsored events and meetings.
