GFOA is seeking an Office Manager to oversee daily office operations and guest services. This role ensures that GFOA’s Chicago office supports employees, members, and visitors by maintaining a professional environment, coordinating equipment and workspace needs, and providing concierge-level support during member training events. The Office Manager also leads workplace safety initiatives and represents GFOA on building-related matters.


This is a full-time, onsite position based in GFOA’s Chicago office, Monday through Friday.

Job duties will include but are not limited to:


Event & Guest Services

  • Serve as the primary point of contact during on-site member training events.
  • Coordinate logistics, room setup, and hospitality for a professional guest experience.
  • Assist with light furniture moves and event setup.

Office & Facilities Management

  • Coordinate and support efforts to ensure an organized and professional office      environment.
  • Coordinate office maintenance and facility updates.
  • Represent GFOA on the building’s tenant council.

Administrative & Employee Support

  • Oversee purchase and organization of office supplies.
  • Partner with HR to support onboarding and workstation setup.

Furniture & Equipment Coordination

  • Manage requests for new or different furniture and equipment.
  • Ensure ergonomic and functional needs are met.
  • Oversee procurement and setup of office furniture and equipment.

Safety & Emergency Preparedness

  • Coordinate safety training and emergency drills with building management.
  • Maintain compliance with workplace safety regulations.

   

Requirements

  

The Ideal Office Manager will have:

  • Experience in hospitality or in hospitality-adjacent roles.
  • Hands-on experience working in office settings and a practical understanding of the day-to-day needs of a well-functioning workplace. 
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A proactive, customer service mindset.
  • Familiarity with workplace safety protocols.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  

Starting Salary Range
$60,000 – $75,000
