Chicago Food Factory - 2136 South Peoria Street Chicago, IL 60608 | Sunday to Thursday: 8:00 pm to 4:30 am

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Maintenance Mechanic with a strong background in the food manufacturing industry to join our team. The ideal candidate will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment critical to food production and packaging processes. This role requires in-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, a commitment to maintaining high food safety standards, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Diagnoses and troubleshoots electrical and mechanical failure.
Repair and replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment on a different shift depending on the production schedule.
Perform facility maintenance, including plumbing, patching walls, electrical repairs, etc.
Read and interpret technical manuals to perform accurate repairs.
Maintain accurate record of mechanical activities, including work orders, parts inventory, and service logs.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and standards during all maintenance activities.
Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements for reliability and efficiency.
Follow GMP and Food Safety and comply with company policies.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years experience as a maintenance worker in a food manufacturing facility.
Handles the physical demand of the job, including standing, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing and lifting at least 50lbs.
Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Team player able to work well with others and contribute to the team.
Knowledge of HVAC systems is an asset.
Able to take the initiative when needed.
The location operates 7 days a week. Successful candidates must have flexible availability to work various shifts and weekends.
Ability to communicate in Spanish is an asset.
