Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Patient Procedure Scheduler in the Neuroscience Service Line.  You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
WIth the leadership of the Assistant Director, the Patient Procedure Scheduler works collaboratively with physicians, staff and patients in order to ensure that procedures and/or surgeries are scheduled and coordinated appropriately. The Patient Procedure Scheduler is accountable for achieving performance and service targets and metrics in a manner consistent with the ideal patient experience approach and philosophy.
Essential Job Functions
- Work Collaboratively with physicians and staff members to schedule procedures
- Schedule procedures based on preapproved guidelines and protocolsÂ
- Enter proceudre information and update/inform  physicicans of schedules per protocal
- Coordinate schedules with time and equipment availability; identify conflicts and adjust schedules as needed
- Communicate with patients and inform them of any schedule changes
- Order and coordinate delivery of special supplies and equipment, as necessary
- Set expectations and provide instructions for all patients pertaining to their upcoming procedure/admission and confirm understanding
- Provide pre-appointment instructions, directions and messages per protocol
- Respond to patient inquiries/concerns appropriately and in a timely manner
- Provide service recovery with unhappy patients, escalate patient concerns per protocol
- Submit bed requests for patients requiring admission

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians, management, staff and other customers
- Exceptional customer service skills including the ability to use independent thinking, sound judgment and creativity when resolving customer issues
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Successful completion of Cadence Scheduling system training and competencies
- Ability to use personal computers and select software applications
- Excellent verbal communication skills

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
