The Pricing Senior Manager supports Pricing Leadership and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution of pricing strategies, managing team operations, and developing pricing professionals. Working closely with partners, Firm leadership, and cross-functional teams, the Senior Manager guides the development of pricing proposals, provides strategic advice on pricing structures and rate frameworks, and identifies opportunities for process improvement and innovation. The Senior Manager helps translate the firm's pricing vision into practice and plays a critical role in fostering collaboration across revenue cycle functions.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and oversee team members in the development of hourly rate and alternative fee arrangement proposals, including financial modeling, benchmarking, and reporting on matter performance against agreed upon terms.

  • Analyze fee arrangements to increase client value, competitiveness, efficiency, and profitability; provide guidance to partners on pricing structures, negotiation tactics, and internal approval policies.

  • Liaise with client legal operations teams on pricing negotiations, as appropriate.

  • Support Global Practice Leaders and the Pricing Committee by reviewing fee proposals and analyzing financial data, including client statistics, as part of the approval process.

  • Support the execution of the Firm's annual billing rate strategy by coordinating benchmarking data, timelines, and communication with key stakeholders.

  • Draft and tailor pricing-related language for inclusion in Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and fee renegotiation materials.

  • Partner with Business Development leadership to establish best practices and protocols for collaboration on RFP responses and client proposals.

  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, automation, and increased efficiency in pricing operations.

  • Stay current on legal pricing trends, tools, and industry benchmarks to assist Pricing Leadership in driving innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Develop and manage a high-performing team through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career development to project confidence and professionalism in interactions with partners, clients and Firm leadership.

  • Collaborate with leaders across Strategic Planning, Marketing, Financial Terms Management, Conflicts and New Business, and Revenue Management to ensure alignment of pricing operations with business objectives.

  • Develop and maintain training materials, tools, market data and resources to support innovation and ongoing learning across the Pricing team.

Education and/or Experience: 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • A minimum of 8 years of accounting and financial analysis experience, including substantial experience in legal pricing.

  • Advanced capabilities and knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

  • A minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to train and develop business professionals.

  • Project management experience with the ability to efficiently and effectively complete projects.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a large law firm or other professional services environment.
  • Master's degree, MBA, or CPA.

The target salary range for this role is:

$150,000 - $210,000 if located in Illinois.

Salaries vary by location and are based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, the relevant market, skills, experience, and education of the selected candidate.
