Position Overview The Barback supports the bartending and beverage team by ensuring the bar is fully stocked, clean, organized, and ready for service. This position plays an essential role in providing an efficient and seamless guest experience at ROOF, a high-volume rooftop venue. The ideal candidate is energetic, dependable, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional appearance and positive attitude. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Support bartenders and beverage staff throughout service to ensure smooth and efficient bar operations. Stock liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, ice, napkins, and other bar supplies. Replenish bar inventory throughout the shift and communicate low-stock items to management. Prepare and restock garnishes, juices, mixers, syrups, and other beverage ingredients as directed. Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked bar stations before, during, and after service. Collect, wash, polish, and restock glassware as needed. Clear and clean empty bottles, glassware, and other items from bar and service areas. Assist bartenders with maintaining appropriate levels of ice and other supplies during busy periods. Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing beverage deliveries. Maintain proper rotation and storage of beverage products. Keep refrigerators, coolers, storage areas, and bar equipment clean and organized. Assist with opening and closing duties, including stocking, cleaning, and securing the bar area. Support bartenders and servers during high-volume periods to ensure timely guest service. Follow all company policies and procedures related to alcohol service, sanitation, safety, and responsible beverage service. Maintain awareness of guests and immediately communicate any guest concerns or service issues to the appropriate manager. Handle glassware, bottles, equipment, and other bar items safely. Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude consistent with ROOF's upscale environment. Work cooperatively with bartenders, servers, hosts, security, culinary staff, and management. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have open availability to meet business needs. Previous barback, restaurant, bar, hotel, or hospitality experience preferred. Previous experience in a high-volume or upscale bar/restaurant environment is a plus. Knowledge of basic bar operations and beverage service preferred. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Ability to anticipate the needs of bartenders and the beverage team. Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail. Ability to prioritize tasks and remain composed during periods of high volume. Must be dependable and punctual. Must be at least 21 years of age or meet applicable legal requirements for the position. Must be able to obtain and maintain any required food handler, alcohol service, or other applicable certifications. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry cases of beverages, ice, glassware, and other supplies. Ability to push and pull carts and equipment. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and move frequently throughout the work area. Ability to work in a rooftop environment and tolerate varying temperatures and weather conditions as applicable. Ability to safely handle glassware, bottles, and bar equipment. Work Environment This position works primarily in a high-volume rooftop bar and entertainment environment. The Barback may work in crowded, loud, fast-paced conditions and may be exposed to outdoor temperatures, weather, wet floors, and frequent movement throughout the venue.
