The U.S. Relationship Marketing Team is accountable for the strategy, development, execution and ongoing optimization of go-to-market campaigns and programs targeting current BMO clients through onboarding, account/product and service activation, digital adoption, engagement, cross-sell, loyalty and retention; and lending new-to-bank acquisition.

You have proven success leading high-performing marketing teams supporting acquisition, onboarding, activation, engagement, cross-sell, loyalty and retention marketing initiatives. Role Description
As a member of the Relationship Marketing leadership team, you will lead our Consumer Lending and Payments/Card marketing team and serve as the primary leader driving marketing strategy and tactical execution for all marketing initiatives. Your team will serve as the key liaison between our partners, our marketing and a variety of cross-team collaborative stakeholders to deliver successful client, account, balance and revenue growth for our lending and payments teams.
Your team will develop integrated, omnichannel marketing strategies and bring campaigns to life in partnership with a mix of internal and agency/vendor partners to grow our U.S. P&BB portfolio in strategic and sustainable ways. You’ll mentor and be accountable for your team developing and delivering compelling insight-driven briefs to produce effective marketing campaigns—from start to finish—that deliver not only on our marketing KPIs, but that drive our business KPIs forward for annual and five-year goals, as well.
You’ll be responsible for your team building and maintaining strong, trusted and collaborative relationships with your business partners to ensure clear alignment on their key performance goals, and partner with them to forecast the impact of different levels of spend and performance across a wide range of media mix channels. You’ll also be responsible for driving accurate and timely analysis of marketing and business performance data to understand our success and identify opportunities and surveying the competitive landscape to ensure our marketing persuades our clients to fully understand and appreciate how BMO helps them to make real financial progress—and encourages them to stay with BMO!
Responsibilities – here are some of the things you’ll be doing in this role:Â
Marketing Campaign Implementation & Project Management
- Strong people management including resource planning, driving accountability, constructive coaching and mentorship for ongoing growth and career planning.
- Leading a team to support acquisition, onboarding, retention, cross-sell, engagement and loyalty campaigns for business banking clients, with tactics including direct mail, email, digital banking, etc.
- Support the delivery of high-quality, on-time campaigns, journeys, and communications across print, digital, owned and in-branch channels .Â
- Track operational KPIs and prepare reporting for leadership.Â
- Support process improvement efforts (e.g., updating templates, documenting workflows, enhancing internal tools)Â and partner on budget management, as needed.
- Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for assigned workstreams across creative, partner, legal and agency teams. Â
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous ImprovementÂ
- Align to documented processes and create feedback loops to optimize performance.
- Surface and solve for executional bottlenecks and enable scale.
- Champion operational visibility and clarity across workstreams.Â
- Contribute to process improvement efforts and team knowledge-sharing tools.Â
Workfront ManagementÂ
- Own all project templates for Cards & Lending Relationship Marketing Team as well as regular review process – aligned to accuracy and reporting.
- Own all project management for campaign execution within our Workfront project management system.
- Build and maintain intake forms, project templates, workflows and reporting dashboards. Â
- Identify pain points and drive continuous improvement in workflows.Â

Within the first 30 days, you’ll: Â
- Position yourself as a consultative Partner:
- Meet and build relationships with the Consumer Lending and Payments marketing team members to understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Cultivate and build relationships with your business partners, digital partner teams, social media, legal, compliance and other groups as needed, to successfully grow and retain our savings deposits in the U.S.
- Establish relationships with your business partners and key partner teams including marketing, product, channel execution partners, data partners, digital partner teams, social media, legal, compliance and other groups as needed, to successfully grow and retain our savings deposits in the U.S.Â
- Gain deep understanding of current workflows, intake and approval process.
- Gain knowledge of Card & Lending products, services and reports.
- Understand the current and future state for client journey(s).
- Review, manage and support Workfront requests, templates, projects and begin to manage status and action/track projects.
- Independent Campaign Development & Execution
- Lead the strategy, planning and execution of relationship marketing campaigns—across paid and owned channels—focusing on deepening and retaining our business client relationships.
- Independently manage and understand work and resource planning for consumer lending and payments marketing projects in Workfront project management tool, including daily status updates, project management for the larger initiatives, and know how/when to escalate questions and reprioritize work with our leaders and partners, when needed, to ensure our partners can rely on us for on-time delivery and transparent and proactive communication.
- Marketing Performance Analysis
- Take accountability and ownership for managing lending and card marketing cost centers with our accounting partners and strategy team—and integrate into our campaign analysis to evaluate and improve our ROMI on an ongoing basis.
- Take accountability for consumer lending and card expense management and budget reporting at the cost center level—both with our accounting partners, but also as part of our ongoing campaign analysis to evaluate and improve our ROMI, on an ongoing basis.
- Gain access to and learn the team’s reports to track and analyze marketing performance data on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to measure campaign effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.Â
- Empower Teams for Independent Campaign Development & Execution
- Align on and help to establish annual plans with measurable key performance indicators to guide our future year’s marketing activities.
- Partner with lending and payment marketing team members to guide the strategy, planning and execution of relationship marketing campaigns—across paid and owned channels—focusing on deepening and retaining our business client relationships.
- Gain proficiency in Workfront as a people manager to ensure you’re ability not only to provision your own projects, but to help support your team through their status updates, resourcing challenges and prioritization.
Within the first 60 days, you’ll also:Â

- Master our current brief and intake processes and provide consultation for our team on brief development, project planning, campaign execution and process adherence and fully take over leadership in these key areas for your team to produce compelling and impactful marketing campaigns at BMO.
- Take over management of key meetings.
- Develop relationships with agency partners and begin to consult on strategies tied to different marketing tactics and media opportunities (e.g.: retargeting, content distribution, mobile), and actively monitor programs to ensure that we are tracking toward our goals.Â

- Marketing Performance Analysis
- Ability to lead team on consolidated and clear storytelling that monitors progress against campaign and overall marketing plan milestones, and recommend and implement adjustments as necessary to meet business objectives on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Independently own and manage all cost center tracking tied to consumer lending and payments relationship marketing spend with accounting and business partners as needed.
- Design and produce regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards.Â

- Have mastered the BMO process from idea generation, to campaign development, execution and delivery and analysis/reporting tied to annual and campaign KPIs.
- Oversee the finalization and approval of messaging and creative assets.
- Manage budget fully for your business area and accounts payable.
- Marketing Performance Analysis
- Organize your team members to plan for and feel comfortable presenting accurate, timely and informative monthly and quarterly marketing results to business partners and marketing colleagues and sharing data-driven insights about how our performance is informing future work.
- Own all reporting execution for Card & Lending Relationship Marketing.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, advertising, communications or a related field.
- 7 -Â 10Â years of relevant experience in financial services marketing, ideally supporting B2B, as well as B2C efforts in roles that have fully owned and managed marketing strategy, operations, project management, campaign delivery, budget and campaign performance analysis and reporting.
- Prior experience in regulated marketing preferred (e.g., finance, healthcare, insurance, etc.)
- Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to lead timelines, influence teams, and work across multiple stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills: demonstrate a “team player” mentality with the ability to understand varying points-of-view and to build partnership that bring everyone together to get things done. Ability to identify more than one path to optimal outcome(s) and model flexibility to pivot on strategies as new data becomes available.
- Advanced verbal and written skills, required, with demonstrated success presenting to senior leadership and ability to influence meaningful action and change in a large, matrixed organization.
- Exceptional project management skills and deadline-driven with strong attention to detail are required with demonstrated ability to implement and improve marketing workflows. Advanced experience with Workfront software—both as a user, and as a project owner—highly preferred.
- Results driven through creative problem-solving—adept at gathering and analyzing data to gain insights to drive data-driven and insight-informed recommendations.
- Comfortable working in changing, high growth environments; comfortable with ambiguity and working in matrixed organizations.Â
- Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word, SalesForce, and a knowledge of financial marketing platforms.Â

Salary:
$102,000.00 - $190,000.00Pay Type:
SalariedThe above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
