Our team supports our issuers and investors by offering deep institutional knowledge of the market. position summary & purpose The Senior Underwriter plays a key role in the execution, pricing, and distribution of municipal securities transactions within the Municipal Capital Markets group. This position partners closely with Public Finance Bankers, Sales, Trading, Municipal Advisors, and Issuers to develop market-driven financing solutions and facilitate successful transaction execution. The Senior Underwriter supports both negotiated and competitive transactions by providing market analysis, structuring recommendations, pricing support, and coordination throughout the underwriting process.   The ideal candidate possesses strong municipal market knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple transactions while fostering effective relationships both internally and externally. Essential duties and resPONSIBILITIEs Assist in the pricing and placement of new issue municipal transactions. Support transaction execution, including pricing analyses, allotments, processing, and settlement activities. Analyze market conditions and provide recommendations regarding transaction structure and pricing strategies. Collaborate with issuers, municipal advisors, public finance bankers, sales, and trading professionals to develop financing solutions that meet issuer objectives and market requirements. Participate in negotiated and competitive underwriting opportunities. Prepare pricing books, market updates, transaction summaries, and other underwriting-related materials. Monitor municipal market activity and communicate relevant trends, comparable transactions, and investor demand. Coordinate new issue distribution efforts with sales personnel to maximize transaction performance. Assist with calculating and communicating sales credits and transaction-related information to internal stakeholders. Maintain underwriting records, deal pipelines, and transaction tracking reports. Support responses to requests for proposals (rfps) and underwriting presentations. Work closely with compliance, operations, and accounting to ensure adherence to applicable regulations, policies, and procedures. Attend industry events and conferences to develop professional relationships and remain current on market developments. All other duties as assigned Qualifications management & decision making responsibilities Exercise sound judgment regarding transaction pricing, structuring recommendations, and market positioning. Collaborate with senior underwriting leadership on transaction strategy and investor distribution plans. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate execution of municipal offerings. Support the maintenance of transaction pipelines and reporting utilized by Public Finance, Compliance, Operations, and Accounting teams. Serve as a resource to junior underwriting professionals and analysts as needed. knowledge, skills & abilities requirements Strong understanding of municipal bond markets, underwriting practices, and capital markets. Experience evaluating transaction structures, pricing strategies, and investor demand dynamics. Proficiency in Ipreo, Bloomberg, BidComp, Net360, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments. Professional presence and strong relationship-building skills. EDUCATION & work experience Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or a related field required. Minimum 5-10 years of municipal underwriting, public finance, capital markets, or related experience preferred. Demonstrated experience supporting municipal securities transactions and deal execution. required licenses & certificates FINRA Series 7, 52, and 63 License required. Additional industry registrations may be required.   Work Authorization Requirement: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.
