Sonic Summary

info
  • Kunai is seeking a Product Manager or Technical Product Manager with 5+ years of experience to drive the retirement and migration of legacy applications in a payments modernization program.
  • The role requires direct experience with digital payment networks such as card, ACH, and wire to accurately define business requirements.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working with engineering teams and have experience in managing application retirement, remediation, or platform migration efforts.
  • The position offers competitive compensation and a range of benefits, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional development.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required, or equivalent specialized training and experience in technology for those without a degree.

Kunai builds full-stack technology solutions for banks, credit and payment networks, infrastructure providers, and their customers. Together, we are changing the world’s relationship with financial services. At Kunai, we help our clients modernize, capitalize on emerging trends, and evolve their business for the coming decades by remaining tech-agnostic and human-centered.

You'll drive the retirement, remediation, and migration of legacy applications across a large-scale payments modernization program, working closely with engineering teams to plan and execute the path to a stable, well-managed end state. You'll be part of a team working on systems that support a major payments platform. Given the technical complexity of the systems involved, hands-on experience with digital payment networks is essential to defining business requirements accurately and engaging with engineering teams.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the roadmap for legacy application disposition across multiple workstreams in the payments program
  • Work with engineering teams to define technical requirements and sequence migration and remediation work
  • Track application inventories and disposition status, flagging risks before they become blockers
  • Coordinate migrations to target infrastructure, including timelines and dependencies between teams
  • Translate business and compliance requirements into clear, actionable technical work, drawing on direct knowledge of payment network functionality
  • Run backlog grooming, sprint planning, and other delivery ceremonies with engineering teams
  • Align stakeholders across business, technical, and compliance groups on priorities and trade-offs
  • Report progress and risk to program leadership with data to back it up
  • Identify opportunities to simplify or accelerate the legacy retirement process

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager or Technical Product Manager, ideally on infrastructure, migration, or modernization initiatives
  • Direct experience with digital payment networks (e.g., card, ACH, wire, or real-time payment rails) is required to accurately define and validate business requirements
  • Experience managing application retirement, remediation, or platform migration efforts
  • Comfortable working directly with engineering teams to shape technical scope and sequencing
  • Experience in payments or financial services technology environments
  • Experience with Agile delivery practices, including backlog management and sprint ceremonies
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience aligning technical and business groups
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure migrations, ideally AWS
  • A clear communicator who can translate technical complexity for non-technical audiences and stay organized across many moving parts
