About the Role

As a Mental Health Therapist, you'll provide evidence-based, trauma-informed psychotherapy to adults, youth, and families — conducting comprehensive assessments, building individualized treatment plans, and delivering individual, family, and group therapy that fosters real, sustainable change. You'll be part of a team directly advancing our Behavioral Health mission of expanding access to high-quality, equity-centered mental health care.

This role offers a hybrid schedule (up to 2 days remote) and the flexibility to serve clients through in-person, telehealth, and community-based settings — meeting people where they are.

Schedule: Evening hours required (2–3 nights/week); hybrid up to 2 days/week. Subject to change to meet program needs.

Reports to: Director of Community Mental Health

What You'll Do

  • Deliver trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy (individual, family, and group) to clients across the lifespan, including those with SMI and I/DD
  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments (IM+CANS) and develop measurable, client-centered treatment plans
  • Maintain clinical documentation in compliance with Rule 132/140, Medicaid, HIPAA, and agency standards
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners (schools, medical providers, child welfare, courts) to coordinate care
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision and pursue ongoing professional development
  • Engage clients proactively — reminder calls, outreach, and motivational interviewing to reduce no-shows and support treatment completion
  • Represent the agency in the community through workshops, presentations, and outreach

What You Bring

Education & Licensure

  • Master's degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical/Counseling Psychology, Art Therapy, or a related field
  • Current Illinois licensure as an LPC or ALMFT required; full clinical licensure (LCPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist) strongly preferred
  • License must be in good standing with IDFPR

Experience

  • 2+ years of clinical experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and/or families
  • Experience conducting clinical assessments and developing treatment plans in a behavioral health setting
  • Experience with trauma-informed, evidence-based interventions (CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, MI)
  • Experience with EHR documentation, ideally in a Medicaid-funded or community mental health setting

Knowledge & Skills

  • Familiarity with Illinois Medicaid community mental health requirements (Rule 132/140) and DSM-5-TR
  • Understanding of risk assessment, safety planning, and mandated reporting requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, telehealth platforms, and EHR systems (e.g., AWARDS)
