Our client, a luxury hotel located in the Hyde Park area of Chicago, IL, is seeking a Bartender with strong product knowledge and a hospitality-driven approach to craft and serve beverages for our guests. The goal is to enhance the guest experience by delivering well-made drinks, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere at the bar. As a Bartender, you will perform a combination of mixology, service, and bar maintenance duties to keep the bar running smoothly during all shifts. Bartender Duties & Responsibilities Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with standard recipes and the hotel’s presentation standards. Greet guests at the bar, take orders, make recommendations, and provide friendly, attentive service throughout their visit. Verify the age of guests ordering alcohol and check identification when required. Monitor guest consumption and behavior; refuse service to intoxicated guests in accordance with state and local laws and hotel policy. Open and close the bar, including setting up garnishes, stocking liquor, beer, wine, and mixers, and breaking down stations at the end of service. Keep the bar area, back bar, and service stations clean, organized, and well-stocked at all times. Process payments accurately, including cash, credit card, and room charges, and balance the bank at the end of each shift. Maintain awareness of inventory levels, report low stock to management, and assist with periodic inventory counts. Collaborate with servers, server assistants, and the kitchen team to ensure smooth and timely beverage service. Adhere to all health, safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service guidelines. Report any equipment issues, breakage, or maintenance needs to supervisors promptly. Bartender Qualifications and Experience Proven working experience as a Bartender in a hotel, restaurant, or bar environment. Strong knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits. Current state-required alcohol service certification (e.g., BASSET for Illinois) and Food Handler certification, or willingness to obtain prior to start. Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, professional, and confident demeanor. Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Strong attention to detail, accuracy with cash and POS transactions, and ability to multitask in a high-volume environment. Fluent in English; conversational Spanish is a plus. Flexibility to work evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be at least 21 years of age.
