Position Summary

The Grants Coordinator is responsible for identifying, coordinating, preparing, and managing grant funding opportunities that support the organization's mission and strategic initiatives. This position works collaboratively with leadership, finance, program managers, and external partners to develop compelling grant proposals, maintain compliance with funding requirements, and oversee grant reporting throughout the grant lifecycle.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, an excellent writer, and experienced in grant research, proposal development, and project coordination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Grant Research and Development

  • Research and identify local, state, federal, corporate, and foundation funding opportunities. 
  • Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar with application deadlines and reporting requirements. 
  • Evaluate funding opportunities for organizational fit. 
  • Develop and write persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documentation. 
  • Coordinate proposal development with program leadership and executive management. 
Grant Administration

  • Monitor awarded grants to ensure compliance with funder requirements. 
  • Track grant expenditures in collaboration with the Finance Department. 
  • Prepare and submit timely programmatic and financial reports. 
  • Maintain accurate grant files and support documentation. 
  • Ensure all grant deliverables and reporting deadlines are met. 
Collaboration

  • Work closely with department leaders to gather program data and measurable outcomes. 
  • Assist in developing project budgets with finance staff. 
  • Coordinate internal meetings regarding grant opportunities and awarded projects. 
  • Build positive relationships with funding agencies and community partners. 
Data Management

  • Maintain grant management databases and tracking systems. 
  • Collect program performance metrics and outcome data. 
  • Prepare reports for executive leadership and Board of Directors as requested. 
Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies and grant regulations. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of organizational and donor information. 
  • Monitor changes in grant regulations and funding requirements. 
Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of grant writing or grant management experience preferred. 
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations, healthcare organizations, or behavioral health agencies preferred. 
  • Demonstrated success in securing grant funding is highly desirable. 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong technical writing and editing abilities. 
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines. 
  • Strong analytical and research skills. 
  • High attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). 
  • Experience with grant management software or donor databases is preferred. 
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting principles is preferred. 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Grant Writer or Grant Professional Certification (GPC) preferred. 
  • Experience with federal grant applications (SAM.gov, Grants.gov). 
  • Knowledge of nonprofit compliance requirements. 
  • Experience working with behavioral health (specific to substance use disorder clients), healthcare and/ or social service organizations.
