Job DetailsJob Location: Chicago, IL 60610Position Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $20.00 - $20.00 HourlyPART-TIME - up to 20 hours per week, including weekend services The Preschool Coordinator is a part-time position with the Loop Kids Children’s Ministry at Park Near North. This candidate will work to support the mission of Park Near North’s Family Ministry: to be an intentional partnership between the church and the home that is designed to teach kids, develop leaders, and equip parents to become disciple-making disciples. Their aim is to create a safe, welcoming environment for kids and parents during both Sunday morning services and special programs/events throughout the year. They should excel at connecting with kids, parents, and volunteers, ensuring a great experience for all of our families, new and old. They will also work to build a leadership team among their volunteers to identify and equip key leaders to help carry the ministry forward.   WEEKEND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee Nursery/Preschool programming on Sunday mornings, ensuring that all aspects are executed well. Assist the Children’s Director and Children’s Ministry team to create meaningful experiences for children and families during Sunday services. Create a welcoming, calm, and hospitable environment in the Loop check-in area. Oversee correct implementation of curriculum so that all teaching is executed effectively in the classrooms. Be well-versed in Loop Kids child-safety policies as well as safety and emergency procedures, and be able to uphold and enforce these during weekend services. Serve as a point of escalation to manage behavioral issues that arise in the classroom. Communicate with the Loop Kids Admin and/or Facilities team about any supplies or equipment that need to be refilled, repaired, or replaced. ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain a monthly schedule of volunteers through our scheduling system (Ministry Scheduler Pro) to ensure that all Nursery/Preschool rooms are well staffed each week. Send communication to the Nursery/Preschool weekend serving team each week to ensure that they are prepared for each Sunday. Become an expert on the MSP software used for scheduling volunteers, and be able to assist and train volunteers on using it as well. Complete the onboarding process of new Nursery/Preschool volunteers by conducting their interview and placing them on the schedule. Add new Loop Kids volunteers to Planning Center as needed. Add new families to desired mailing lists and Planning Center as needed. Send a welcome email to new families after they visit, offering to connect them to any other ministries they might be interested in. Communicate with Service Leads about any changes in procedures or opportunities for improvement, and check in with them regularly for feedback. OTHER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Work with the Children’s Director and Admin to recruit, train, and equip both new and current volunteers, making sure they are onboarded to the Children’s Ministry’s culture and values and held to a high standard of excellence and continuous improvement. Work with the Children’s Director to identify key leaders and help create volunteer leadership opportunities based on gifting. Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements related to Sunday morning Nursery/Preschool programming and administrative systems. Support the Children’s Director in brainstorming new ideas and implementing new strategic initiatives to grow the ministry. Occasionally assist in managing childcare and/or children’s programming for special events. Create, plan, and implement early childhood/preschool-specific events and volunteer training events as needed throughout the year at the direction of the Children’s Director. Assist the Children’s Director in creating, planning, and implementing seasonal children and family events throughout the year. Participate in meetings with the Children’s Director and Children’s Ministry team. As able, participate in meetings with the Grow Team and/or Near North Staff team. QualificationsREQUIRED EXPERIENCES & SKILLS Strong teamwork skills; ability to work cooperatively and jointly with coworkers and volunteers. Willing to support team members with their related responsibilities Experience working with preschool children is ideal Ability to lead and manage a team is a must Ability to problem-solve and identify areas of improvement Strong verbal communication skills both written and in-person Ability to manage time, schedule, and assigned projects Comfortable taking initiative, self-motivated, and proactive Strong organizational skills and attention to detail PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS Intentionally fostering a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through time in Scripture, prayer, and Christian community. Ability to reflect Christ in words, actions and thoughts through the ministry. Exemplify humility and servant leadership. Be a Near North Member in good standing, or in the process of joining. Be in a small group at Park Near North, or in the process of joining. Live in the City Limits of Chicago. Must be able to work most Sundays, including ones that fall on Holiday weekends. Must be able to work at special events related to the NN Children’s Ministry.
