About the Role:
Ammons Transportation Service Inc is looking for a reliable and safety-focused School Bus Operator to join our team in Chicago, IL. Responsibilities:
- Safely transport students to and from school along assigned routes in a timely manner
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure bus safety and compliance
- Maintain order and a safe environment on the bus for all passengers
- Follow all traffic laws, school district policies, and state transportation regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, school staff, and parents as needed
- Complete accurate daily logs, incident reports, and route documentation
- Assist students with special needs or disabilities in boarding and exiting the vehicle when required
Requirements:
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Clean driving record with no major traffic violations
- Must pass a background check, drug screening, and physical examination
- Prior school bus or commercial driving experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of Chicago-area roads and traffic patterns
- Excellent punctuality, reliability, and time management skills
- Patient, calm demeanor with the ability to manage student behavior professionally
