Role Summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Director of Talent Management to lead the enterprise strategy for developing talent, strengthening leadership capability, and building a high-performance organization. This role owns the integration of Learning & Development, Performance Management, Leadership & Executive Development, Workforce Development, and Succession & Talent Pipelines to ensure the organization has the right skills and leaders to meet current and future business needs.

The Director partners closely with executive leadership, HR, and business leaders to align talent strategies with organizational priorities and drive measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities

Learning & Development

  • Develop and execute an enterprise-wide learning and development strategy aligned with business goals and workforce needs
  • Identify capability gaps using performance data, KPIs, and workforce analytics
  • Design and deploy scalable learning solutions using blended delivery models (in-person, virtual, e-learning, coaching, job shadowing, etc.)
  • Ensure regulatory, safety, and compliance training meets company and external requirements

Performance Management

  • Own and continuously evolve the performance management framework to drive clarity, accountability, and development
  • Partner with leaders to strengthen goal setting, ongoing feedback, and development planning
  • Integrate performance management with learning, leadership development, and career pathing
  • Analyze performance trends to inform talent and workforce strategies

Leadership & Executive Development

  • Design and deliver leadership development programs for frontline leaders, managers, and senior leaders
  • Lead executive leadership development initiatives focused on strategic leadership, enterprise thinking, and change management
  • Serve as a strategic advisor and coach to senior leaders on leadership effectiveness and team performance

Workforce Development

  • Lead workforce development initiatives to address current and future skill needs
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to align hiring, onboarding, and role readiness with development strategies
  • Support internal mobility and upskilling to meet evolving business demands

Succession & Talent Pipelines

  • Design and lead enterprise succession planning and talent pipeline strategies for critical roles
  • Partner with leaders to identify high-potential talent and create targeted development plans
  • Strengthen internal talent pipelines to support long-term organizational sustainability

Measurement, Systems & Governance

  • Establish metrics to measure the effectiveness and ROI of talent, learning, and leadership initiatives
  • Oversee the Learning Management System (LMS) and related talent systems to ensure accurate tracking and reporting
  • Use data and insights to continuously improve programs and outcomes

Financial & Vendor Management

  • Own and manage budgets related to talent management initiatives
  • Select, manage, and negotiate with external vendors and development partners
  • Ensure cost-effective, high-impact program delivery

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Partner cross-functionally with HR, Operations, Safety, and business leaders
  • Influence at all levels of the organization through strong executive presence and relationship-building
  • Lead and develop talent management team members, as applicable
  • Travel to Zekelman facilities as needed to support development initiatives (approximately 30%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Regular, full-time, predictable attendance is an essential function of this role

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or related field
  • CPLP or similar professional certification a plus
  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in talent management, learning and development, or organizational development
  • Demonstrated experience leading performance management, leadership development, and succession planning initiatives
  • Strong experience with LMS platforms, talent systems, analytics, and budget management

Salary Range - $142K - $255K
