Sterile Processing Supervisor

We are seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Supervisor to support the efficient and safe operation of our sterile processing department in Cook County, Chicago. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sterile processing techniques, infection prevention, and equipment management. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the healthcare team by ensuring the availability of properly sterilized instruments and equipment for patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Sterile Processing Manager in overseeing daily departmental operations, including staff coordination, task delegation, and adherence to established protocols.
  
• Perform hands-on decontamination, cleaning, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of medical instruments and equipment.
  
• Collaborate with sterile processing staff to ensure instruments are processed accurately and efficiently, meeting quality and safety standards.
  
• Maintain accurate records of instrument processing activities, sterilization cycles, and equipment maintenance.
  
• Monitor and track instrument inventory levels, ensuring sufficient stock for upcoming procedures while minimizing excess.
  
• Train and mentor staff in proper techniques, safety practices, and the use of sterile processing equipment.
  
• Participate in infection control initiatives and quality improvement efforts to enhance departmental performance.
  
• Stay informed about the latest industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to sterile processing.
  
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized sterile processing environment.
  

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred
  
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification.
  
• 2-3 years of experience in sterile processing, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  
• Proficient understanding of sterilization methods, infection control protocols, and industry guidelines.
  
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
