About The Position
 Wellhart is seeking a licensed Emergency Medicine Physician for a 12-day locum tenens assignment at an Urgent Care facility in Illinois. Starting 08/04/2025, this role requires expertise in emergency medicine procedures including ventilation management, intubation, and central line placement. The physician will work 12-hour shifts (7a-7p, 7p-7a, or 7a-7a) with 6+ shifts per month, to be determined upon credentialing. This position offers the opportunity to work in a newly renovated 6-bed emergency room within a critical access hospital, managing a diverse range of cases with robust specialty backup support. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with admissions, discharges, and observations in a facility using the Epic electronic health record system.

Responsibilities and Duties:
• Provide emergency medical care to patients of all ages and conditions
• Perform ventilation management and intubations as needed
• Place central lines and manage critical care patients
• Handle admissions, discharges, and observations
• Collaborate with specialty backup including hospitalists, surgeons, and other specialists
• Utilize Epic electronic health record system for documentation
• Manage a diverse range of emergency cases in a critical access setting
• Perform rapid assessment and triage of patients
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Coordinate patient transfers when necessary
• Ensure adherence to emergency medicine protocols and best practices
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
• Adapt to varying patient volumes in a low-volume emergency department
Additional Information:
• Experience in critical access or rural emergency medicine is preferred
• Comfort with managing a wide range of emergency procedures independently
• Strong clinical decision-making skills in a resource-limited environment
• Excellent communication abilities for effective teamwork and patient care
• Flexibility to work various shift schedules as needed
