General Purpose:
Manages the design and layout of new processes from design to operation with a focus on future continuous improvement.
Essential Functions:
Project Management
· Define process capability requirements of new production lines (both current and future)
· Designs layout of plant taking into consideration the current and future requirements of new production lines, best practices, lean manufacturing principles, and OSHA/EPA compliance
· Coordinates with both internal and external resources to integrate equipment and machinery
· Studies product and its requirements, using mathematical methods such as operations research, to meet those requirements and design manufacturing and information systems
· Coordinates all available knowledge and information into finished scale drawing, showing most efficient location of personnel, equipment, and necessary working area around each.
· Creates necessary documentation of new line (e.g. troubleshooting guides, environmental, etc.)
· Trains employees on operation of new line
· Establishes work measurement programs and analyzes work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
· Analyzes work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
· Confers with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
Continuous Process Improvement
· Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
· May take part in developing management systems for cost analysis.
· Participates in documenting and maintaining ISO 9001-2008 Quality Systems.
· Participates in Continuous Process Improvement programs and takes an active role on committees and in work groups.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or similar from a four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Familiar with ISO, Six Sigma, SPC, TQM, MRP, JIT, FMEA, and lean principles
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, process charts, blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
· Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
· Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of trigonometry.
· Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Special skills desired, but not required: glass processing, tempering process, coatings and coating applications, and thermal- chemical transfer (basic chemistry)
· Computer literate in Windows 7, MS Office 2010, and proficient with AutoCAD – strong preference for someone with MS Project experience (e.g. Gantt charts)
