Since 2000, Cimarron Trailers has built a reputation for strength, comfort, and safety in premium horse, livestock, and cargo trailers. Headquartered in Chickasha, Oklahoma, and part of the Folience family of companies, Cimarron is 100% employee-owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) — every employee has a real stake in the company's success. Our culture emphasizes hard work, pride in craft, and having each other's backs, whether on the production floor or in the office. This role is based at our Chickasha headquarters on a flexible hybrid schedule that is primarily on-site.
About the Role
We are seeking a Software Engineer with solid full-stack web development experience to join our Technology team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain web applications that support Cimarron's business — from customer-facing experiences such as our website, dealer portal, and online parts store to internal tools supporting manufacturing, sales, and operations. Our stack centers on Next.js on the frontend with Python and PHP services backed by MySQL and PostgreSQL databases. Beyond traditional web development, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to hardware programming for plant floor automation systems, seeing your software directly drive a real-world manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack web applications across the frontend, backend, and database layers.
- Build responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces using Next.js and React.
- Develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Python and PHP.
- Design, optimize, and maintain relational databases in MySQL and PostgreSQL, including data modeling and query performance tuning.
- Develop and support software for plant floor automation systems, including hardware-level programming and integration with manufacturing equipment.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, operations staff, and other engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and champion best practices in code review, testing, and CI/CD using Git, GitHub, and AWS-based pipelines.
- Build, maintain, and improve deployment infrastructure, with servers and CI/CD pipelines running on GitHub and AWS.
- Participate in code reviews and pair programming to share knowledge and raise code quality across the team.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance, reliability, and security in production.
- Contribute to improving engineering processes, tooling, and developer experience across the team.
- Other duties as assigned, per the needs of the business.Â
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2-4 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong focus on web application development.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Strong hands-on experience building production applications with Next.js and React.
- Strong backend development experience with Python and PHP, including building and maintaining production APIs.
- Solid experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL, including data modeling, query optimization, and database administration fundamentals.
- Proficiency with Git for version control and experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GitHub (e.g., GitHub Actions).
- Experience deploying and running applications on AWS, including server management and pipeline infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of web security fundamentals (e.g., OWASP Top 10) and performance optimization.
- Willingness to learn and work on hardware programming for plant floor automation systems.
- Excellent communication skills and a track record of collaborating effectively across functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with C programming, particularly in embedded or hardware-adjacent contexts.
- Experience with VBA for automation and integration with business applications.
- Experience with industrial or plant floor automation systems (e.g., PLCs, SCADA, machine integration, or similar manufacturing technologies).
- Deeper AWS expertise, such as infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) or observability and monitoring tooling.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience in or familiarity with manufacturing environments.

This is a hybrid position based at Cimarron Trailers headquarters at 1442 Highway 62 East, Chickasha, OK 73018.
